Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
if waverly wants to win, they better knock down some free throws. Just because they're bigger doesn't mean they'll dominate inside. How many shots from inside the paint did Kretzer miss against SW?
I'll take Valley by 9

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
I don't think Waverly can beat a fine team like Valley unless they shot better from the line and knock down a few of their threes. Valley is playing well and will be sky high after their impressive 15 point victory over undefeated South Webster.
Sammy J had a nice game the other night. He finished several drives and had some nice dishes. His penetration seemed to get Waverly going. Go Tigers!

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
It's like this friends.........Waverly will feel the pressure to win "on the road"; but, this is actually Valley's game to lose. Valley is playing at peak level right now; Waverly has lost 2 of last 4 and aren't playing to their potential. So, it looks like the Tigers are the underdogs or undercats....how ever you'd like to say it.
No one gave Waverly an outside shot at the SOC crown...it's a non-issue. That would be icing on the cake for the Tigers. Thus far Waverly has already accomplished some of their team goals like 1) not starting off 0-5 (done), 2) winning at the convo over peake (done), and 3) winning the holiday classic (done). Waverly's primary goal at this point should be to earn enough wins and respect to be seeded #1 in the sectional tourney; then they should hust go out and win the sectional. Right now they are sitting good at an 8-3 record heading into two road games then four home games before the tourney drawing. The SOC championship would be nice, too.
Look for the Tigers to be hitting-on ALL cylinders by the critical tourney time.

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
I thought Waverly had every right to think we'd be right in the middle of the SOC hunt, and that's what their main focus should be right now. If we win the SOC II, the #1 seed will take care of itself.
Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Should be a pretty good game. I dont know that Valley is at their peak, they had been struggling until the Webster game. They have had one good game against South Webster so we are hoping they will continue that type of play tonight. I dont know that Waverly is the underdog. Waverly probably has more talent as a whole than Valley. On the other hand the game is at Valley and they owe them one from an earlier season loss. Should be a really good game in my opinion. Valley is going to have to put together another game like they did against SW to win this one.
I will say Valley at home by 4.

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Valley keeps it close at home but Tigers win by 7.Too much size and Waverly will slow it down to there liking.
Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Waverly lost to a very good Oak Hill at Oak Hill, by two points then lost to Webster without Harrison Martin's 20 pts per game. I think with their defense they will be just fine. And by the way I'd rather have athletic 6'4" players than 6'1" players anytime.
Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Soccerfix would that be the 6'4 Roback your'e talking about ? J. K. LOL Good Luck to both High Quality teams it will be a good game no matter who wins.
Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Waverly's #1 goal was and still is to win the league. If they win the rest of their league games they just need Oak Hill to slip up in one other game. It can still happen. Should the Tigers win out the tournament seed will take care of itself.
As was stated by soccerfix, the Tigers lost by 2 AT Oak Hill and lost a close game to South Webster without Harrison Martin.
As for tonight's game Waverly has to play better than their last 4 games or it could be a long night. I think the the Tigers will be ready and pumped.

I have a feeling Devin Kelly and Sammy J. are going to get some really good looks tonight, with Valley focused on stopping us in the paint. Devin has looked good when shooting the ball the last few games...a lot more confidence. I have a feeling he breaks out and hits double digits tonight.

54-46 Waverly
Valley lead most of the first half by as many as 7. Waverly cut it to a one point game at half-time. Tigers came on strong in the second half and hit a several key foul shots down the stretch.
Martin held to 2 points at half-time and comes out and scores 19 in the second half. Huge road win for the Tigers!

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Not a good game for either team. Both teams looked sluggish and couldnt get their shots to fall down. The daily times was there and he had Valley at 8 of 27 from the floor in the first half and Waverly at 8 of 24. They intensity did pick up in the 4th and Waverly did knock down some big free throws late to seal it though. I just dont think that this was the game everyone expected from these two teams. OH well, guess you will have that sometimes.
Unofficially
Martin 21
Kretzer 15
Utley 19
Yates 14
Coleman 10
Congrats to Waverly and good luck to Valley the rest of the season! Both good teams that are going to be fine.

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Radio announcers gave Rheadon Remy MVP of the game for his scrappy defensive play and 5 steals.
Waverly goes 12-15 from the line for 80%!

I thought Waverly played a heck of a game the second half. Harrison had one shot and a rebound put back the first half. Came on for 19 points the second half.
Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
NO turnovers in the 2nd half for the Tigers and hitting 12-15 from the line, most of those down the stretch was huge. Valley had 1 foul the entire 1st half and didn't pick up their 2nd until late in the 3rd period.
Johnston had a nice game for the Tigers scoring 9 points with some clutch shots.
The Tigers got after it on defense in the 2nd half which lead to the offense getting better looks.
Valley is a very hard place to win so I'd say the Tigers did pretty good tonight.

Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't that Valley's first home loss in 2 years? I think that tells you just how tough of a place that it is to play. Congrats to the Tigers on the win. Get rest and GET your BUTTS ready for burg!
Re: Waverly vs Valley 1-22-10
Burg falls to Northwest in OT tonight. The Pirates may be struggling but Waverly has to travel to Wheelersburg next Tuesday. The Tigers better be ready to play. Can't take one night off boys.
