Who should be hired at wellston?
what coach do you think would have a positive impact on the golden rockets?
Re: Who should be hired at wellston?
I've heard Heath Hinton is going to be asked. But, he will likely try to get the Amanda Clearcreek job since uncle Ron is leaving for Chillicothe.

Nobody but but the legend *Jim Tressel* will be able to turn this program around.

Heath Hinton will not go back to Wellston and he is not going to take over the Amanda job.
And I disagree Broncofan- Heath did have it turned around from being pretty bad before. The right guy could make it work.

Re: Who should be hired at wellston?
The Wellston program wasn't in too bad of shape when Hinton arrived. They had just come off of a 6-4 season and had two 8-2 seasons before that. Wellston was just a job for Hinton. He had no intentions of staying. Wellston's program needs someone from there that will stay and REBUILD the program from the bottom up. I can't believe that "Boilermaker" and some of the other Wellston faithful haven't jumped all over this topic. I have an idea who some maybe many Wellston people want . . . I don't think either will happen.

Re: Who should be hired at wellston?
If he can go home, he should. Oak Hill was trying to fire him just a year ago and now after a great year they love him again. Of course, Wellston is a thankless place to coach too.....
Re: Who should be hired at wellston?
If Phillips comes to Wellston i look for a good first season with a lot of young talent returning for the rockets!
Re: Who should be hired at wellston?
If you are a head football coach, they are ALL thankless places to be. I think with the internet age it only takes a few "fans", and I use that term very cautiously, to get all kinds of negative things going. Phillips wasn't close to getting fired. There were some of the "bleacher creatures" on here complaining. You can bet anything there will be plenty of those in Wellston if he doesn't play the right kid at QB or someone else doesn't get the playing time mom and dad thinks he should get because he was an "All American" at the pee wee level. I've been to a few Wellston/Jackson games. Don't kid yourself, the Wellston crowd can be very tough. I think he would do a great job at Wellston and would stay a long time. That is what they need most of all. I just don't think he will go. Too good of a team coming this year.

Love him? after we drive down the field in just seconds before halftime and go with a field goal when we couldnt kick an extra point one foot off the ground in two attempts? NAH
Coach Phillips had TALENT and the talent is back. Anyone can coach talent!

I just don't understand why oak hill fans complain with what happened last yr. Coach Phillips took over a program that was the laughing stock of southeastern ohio and turned them into a pretty good team that went 11-1 last year be thankful for what you have oak fans!

laughing stock of southeastern ohio? We had one winless year. I believe that there have been many teams that have strung several winless years together.

Yeah I don't Oak Hill was the laughing stock of Seo, I know plenty of teams with worse runs...Phillips would be crazy to leave all of that talent behind, but if Wellston is his dream so be it. Oak Hill will win a lot next year, if he stays there probably region champs, if not more, if he doesn't they will still win...but wow if he does leave, what a shakeup in the scenery that would be for the Soc 1 with almost every team getting new coaches.
Anyway back to Wellston, I think they made a mistake letting Mantell go, this year will probably be the payoff year he was waiting for...oh well
