Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #8
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #8
Seems like Portsmouth has struggled out of the gate all season.Great win for the Trojans on the road to end the two game slide...Big game at Chilli on Tuesday and the Trojans are three wins away from pushing above .500 for the year. Its been awhile...great job Coach Collins!

Peebles over Paint Valley 86-46 in an emotional game for the Indians faithful as gaurd Andy Countryman's dad Charlie was honored by being given a moment of silence at the beginning of the contest, Charlie past away this morning from pancreatic cancer. Andrew Seaman led all scorers with 28 or 30pts? The JV and Freshmen contests were also won by the Indians as the JV cruised to a 58-29 victory and the Freshmen won 40-32. The lead for the varsity game went to a game high of 42 in the fourth quarter before clearing the bench at about the 5min mark.
Peebles Varsity now 14-0
JV 12-2

The Chef just got off phone with Piketon attendee of Zanesville and Piketon game. Said Zanesville led throughout game by 4 to 8 points pretty much the whole game. Streaks made a half court shot at half where the Piketon player was nudged from behind but official came running in to call travelling. Free throw would have cut it to 1 point at half. Good played game by Streaks againt the best team they've played was what The Chef was told. Zanesville is really good and Piketon is rounding into tournament form.

Logan Elm 52, Bloom-Carroll 34
BLOOM-CARROLL — McGraw 1-3-6; Rowland 1-0-2; McGlone 4-1-9; Watts 2-0-5; Ireland 3-2-10; Williamson 1-0-2. Three-point goals — Ireland (2); Watts and McGraw. Totals — 12-39 6-9 34.
LOGAN ELM — Hauserman 4-4-12; Thomas 1-0-3; Whaley 1-0-2; Vagnier 3-0-8; Pritchard 5-1-13; Blake 5-0-13; Hulse 0-1-1. Three-point goals — Blake (3); Vagnier (2); Pritchard (2) and Thomas. Totals — 19-41 6-10 52.
Quarter scores 1 2 3 4 F
Bloom-Carroll 8 7 9 10 34
Logan Elm 13 15 15 9 52
Logan Elm went to 13-2 with a rested and full lineup. Nice defensive effort, getting up in Bloom-Carroll and forcing some turnovers. Logan Elm was very patient on offense, getting the ball inside to the bigs or emptying the lane and running some cuts. Good win. Probably the cleanest game execution wise they've played this season. Next game is Friday at Circleville which will be played at the Mill Street Gym, one of my favorite places to watch a game.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #8
... was good to get a chance to see the Piketon ball club this late in the season ... obviously "retooled" so to speak without the services of Southworth ... in a game vs an opponent as physical as Zanesville, with as many weapons as Zanesville a 6-6 body was definitely a factor ... I left with under 2 minutes to play - the Streaks were still battling ... I was impressed with PHS ... Coach Lisath's boyz got down early 18-11 after the first quarter of action as ZHS was led by Tanner Gibson (6 first qtr. points) and Jordan Bouterse (8 pts in the first qtr. including 2 treys) ... it was all up hill from there for the Streaks as they climbed back into the game in the 2nd behind the duo of Evan Legg and Keenan Brush both with 6 a piece in the second ... PHS got to within one point but couldn't get the lead ... as the half ended with James Lewis for Piketon drilling a more than half court bomb as he was pushed from behind by a ZHS defender , great shot BUT the shot and points were waved off as Lewis was called for traveling ... 28- 23 the ville at intermission ... the third quarter saw Zanesville take control of game - walking the ball up court vs the PHS zone, pushing it in transition ... Legg added 8 of the Piketon 10 points in the quarter while Zanesville put 5 players in the scorebook for the quarter ... Zanesville 41 Piketon 33 after 3 ... If the Blue Devils took control in the 3rd, they put a strangle hold on the game in the 4th as the ZHS big man Cole Carpenter cleared the offensive glass for at least 8 points ... Zanesville 66 Piketon 54 ... a final
... Evan Legg had 21 points in the books with under 2 minutes to go ... I was impressed with Keenan Brush's play at both ends of the floor - he was more offensive minded than I have seen ( I know he had 22 vs Southeastern Tuesday night) ... hadn't seen Brush's range offensively - he can hit the 15 footer with a very quick release ... overall good showing vs a good Zanesville team ...

Pfloyd, looked for you at the Zanesville game and couldnt find you. Were you ushered into the 12' by 12' visitors seating section? lol Piketon played hard, but Zanesville is physical at every position. Congrats to the Blue Devils and the Streaks need to learn from this game and move on. No shame in losing to a program that has posted 1248 wins, thats almost as many as Piketon has played in total! lol

As a multiple time visitor to Z-Ville, I can appreciate the 12' x 12' section (and they do usher you there). A lot of history up there in Zanesville. Has to be one of the toughest gyms to play in around the state. Looks like Piketon hung in there well. You won't find a better prepared team than Aronhalts Blue Devils. Looks like Piketon was right there.

Hitchbone: The Redstreak Nation thought we were in trouble as we were sent to the corner. LOL! The game changer from The Chef's viewpoint was the disallowed halfcourt made shot by Lewis of Piketon. Instead of being a potentially 1-point game at half it remained 5 points. 4-point possible swing in a game as tight as that one can sometimes be all it takes. Nevertheless, Z-ville has a very good team and was more than deserving as they played hard.
