Southwestern Hannan Trace Midget League football signups

Post by Futurebkstar »

South Gallia is starting a 3rd/4th grade and a 5th/6th grade football team. We currently have been invited to play in the Big Bend league in Middleport. That league only allows us to practice two time a week and then games on Saturdays. NO DRAFT!!!! Friends will play together. The league consists of team from Point pleasant, Meigs(two teams), Southern, Eastern, Wahama, and River Valley. Cost for the league is only 25.00 per kid and the league provides uniforms and equipment. We welcome everyone. Whats good about the league is 3rd and 4th graders have their own team. 4th graders do NOT play against 6th graders. It doesnt matter where you live cause all is welcome. Practices will be held once a week at Hannan Trace and once a week at Southwestern. I already have several people that has called or wants to sign up. Feel free to call cause we will need coaches and players.....Call me at 740-645-9590. If I dont answer please leave a message...ask for Jim

That is a great thing to get started. It will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the kids: immediately as it can instill the concepts of teamwork and of discipline, and it was also have the kids familiar with real football (not Madden football). Also it will begin their development in some of the skills necessary for competition at the junior high and high school levels, which will improve the varsity and junior high teams. Most importantly (IMO), it will get some kids off of the couch and actually doing something.

KUDOS!!!

South Gallia has already been helped by peewee footbal. Several kids came to Fairland and played. Ask Bernie F, Curt W, Seth W, Cory S, Jason M, Derrick B, Dewy C... and others how it helped them. Guys, it can only benifit if you get quality coaches involved. Be careful not to create a daddy league. And get your H.S. coaches involved to some level. In 14 years of coaching at Fairland I wish the HS would have shown a little more presence at our games. They did help by letting us use the facilities but not very many coaches shown interest. Good luck guys.
Are you guys going to be "The Rebels"?

Its not a Daddy team. The varsity coaches already have been approached and plays are going to be handed down.
