They wanted a coach in the system from what I hear, wonder how the weight room is going, they have a very small team, and somewhere from 2-4 seniors next year, might not be a good year

What is wrong with this school board? They ran off Davis after he had a very successful tenure there, now running off another head coach after 1 season. Granted they didnt win many games last year, but they lost a ton of talent the year before to graduation. Sounds like the school board needs some new members. What a joke.

Its hard to say, Bond didn't put up with bs and didn't bow down to anyone that questioned his program, he was well deserving of the job, he was well-tenured at East (he was the offensive coordinator for a long time), and loved and cared for East football as much or more than anyone...Last year, people expected them to win 9-10 games and they just weren't talented enough, I think they let a good coach go...

The didn't run him off. His job made it to hard for him to be able to continue coaching from what I heard.
But hey it's much easier to pop off at the mouth about the administration right?!

Not underminding you, but I know a fair amount about the situation, and yes his job made it hard on him, one reason they wanted a someone in the system, but that wasn't the only reason, and I will stop at that...but that was not a shot the East people, school board, or yourself. Hall left, and Davis resigned for entire different reasons than what they got rid of Bond for

I have known Todd Gilliland and his family since he was a pup. Congrats to Todd! Todd has been a Tartan his entire life and will do well if people leave him alone. One thing that many people fail to realize is that in the small programs if one kid gets hurt, you have to move two or three around to fill the void. The talent level will run in cycles but Todd, Lance, and Adam will work hard, give 100% and be in the building on a daily basis.

The complexion of the East leadership has changed. The past Director of Operations that I had issues with is gone and Wendell Skinner and Matt Hammer are now on the board. The hiring of Todd tells me that the board and administration are considering what is best for the kids at East . Todd is more than ready. I agree with alabama mike that Todd,Lance and Adam will make a nice staff. Good luck Tartans!

who was the Director of operations?,and why is he no longer?
Re: Sciotoville East "new football coach"
I apologize. I was wrong to mention the former director. Todd played for me in the mid nineties and coached with me after graduation. He was also the offensive coordinator for Mike McCafferty. He has coached the "double wing" and "spread" offenses. Lance Davis has assisted Larry Hall and Stacey Bond the past two seasons and according to Todd is ready to take on more responsibility as a defensive coordinator. The experience that Adam Bailey has gained this season as head basketball coach should be valuable to this young staff. Three of the five SOC I schools will have new coaches so things should be interesting!
