No New Boston Baseball
Once again New Boston will not be fielding a baseball team this year due to lack of numbers. Most of the boys are interested in Tennis and Track. Just letting know whoever was wondering about the program.

New Boston had their chance to merge with Clay and they decided that they didn't want to.

I agree 100% that NB and Clay SHOULD have consolidated. IMO, the state needs to step in and do something, especially since the construction of a new, NB school has been put on hold. This is just my opinion but since I do not have a dog in the fight, my opinion is just that, mine and an opinion.

I was going to say that.
New Boston could have joined with Clay a few years back, but "balked" at the idea.

If you are going to bring this to light, please be sure you know what you are talking about. I wouldn't say the right term is balked. Let's just say the whole package favored Clay.............what other school would want to lose everything through consolidation?

State should force them to consolidate with either Portsmouth city or Clay local. I am tired of my tax dollars going to these small districts to keep them open and build new buildings they can not afford to pay the utilities....

It has been scientifically proven repeatedly that small schools are capable of providing a higher quality education than large schools. Small schools also statistically have fewer discipline issues and the students feel as though it is their school and that they are not just a number. I applaud New Boston, Sciotoville and other small schools for standing up for what is best for their students. Consolidation is all about money, not education or the well being of students or teachers.

I agree that smaller class sizer are better but...NB graduates about 30 people a year so really I dont think that would affect class size much.

Sorry that the Tigers aren't going to have a baseball team, but on the plus side I believe they are replacing it with a track team. This will give athletes an opportunity to still participate in a sport in the spring, no matter how many they have out, as track can be a very individualized sport.

I have to say, that is a funny quote. Especially on a sports forum.
