Portsmouth v Warrren at Warren

Post by Auburntgrfan »

Week four is upon us and the Warriors suffered their first setback of the season. Some work is in order this week. Seems like Warren came out alittle flat in the first qtr. Had no real answer for Mr. Sharpe. However qtr 2 & 3 belonged to the Warriors. Mr. Sharpe came alive when he was needed most late in the 4th and that seemed to be the difference. Neither team looked insync on either side of the ball for much of the game. Hope the Warriors come out this friday evening with the same fire in their belly as seen the first two fridays of the season. Go blue!!!!!
So what about this years edition of the Portsmouth Trojans?

Portsmouth has lost their first 3 games,,,and have ben bitten by the turnover bug, they have turned the ball over 4 or more times in each of the 3 games,,,,,howver, if they can fix the turnover problem, and cut back on mistakes,I still think this team can be a good football team,

Portsmouth’s 3 loses comes to teams that have a combined record of 8-1 with the only loses being Wheelersburg’s loss to Ironton the first game of the season. We have been in all 3 games but anything that can go wrong has gone wrong at the most inopportune times.
We are better than physically and athletically then our record, but we must be better MENTALLY. If we can be mentally tough we can win this game and compete in every game we have remaining with the possibility to win.
Start of league play is the start of a new season, let’s go Trojans.

If Portsmouth continues to make turnovers at the rate they have through 3 games, they will not win at Warren or perhaps any other game.........WE MUST STOP MAKING SO MANY TURNOVERS!!

The Trojans have enough talent to beat anybody on their schedule, but also can self-destruct enough to lose to anybody.

The league schedule will prove to be just as tough as PHS's non-league slate, so they must play better or the same results will continue!!

GO TROJANS!!

Trojans get them one this week. Warren plays little to no defense so the Trojans can put some points on the board in this one.

Yea Warren is terrible, shouldn't have won a game yet....won their first two games by smoke and mirrors....let's keep spreading the word down in Portsmouth-land, you know their kids are so confident already with such great offense, defense, and special teams play they have shown!

Just curious, please don't take this the wrong way. But warriorfrosh, what are you talking about? I re-read all the above posts and frankly , just can't see anything that anyone has posted that would warrant your response. Am I missing something here? Is this sarcasim? I am confused. Sorry, enlighten me, please.

Warren had one of the better teams in Southeastern Ohio on the ropes. If it wasn't for the bad throws in the first quarter they very well could be 3-0.

Every team on their schedule better come to play or they will go away with an L

I agree with arburntgerfan...I dont see where ayone from Portsmouth,,or anywhere else, is saying Warren is teribble, or even bad,,we are only talking of the mistakes we have to fix,in order for us to win ANY games....

Portsmouth better have at least three corners with some size who can play well and tackle in the open or Warren will eat them up on mid level passes. Warren is a good football team and their defense was better than I expected, and it's hard to make the long trip up the river for P-town so I'll take Warren in a close game.

Skilled defensive backs will not be Portsmouth problem. PHS has played 3 run heavy teams so far so this will be our first test of the secondary really but I actually think they will be fine.

What’s Warren’s run game look like? If they can move the ball on the ground and eat up clock the Trojans will struggle, against Warren. The Trojans defense is improved since last year and has been really over worked this year in my opinion.
I think this will be a really good game.

I can only speak of what I saw last week against Athens. Warren is totally pass oriented, throwing I'd say nearly 80% of the time. They have three good recievers two of which are quite tall like 6'3" or 6'4", their running back isn't used enough in my opinion he ran hard, had good speed and wasn't easy to tackle but most of the Warren running game appeared to be draws and traps without many runs to the outside. Leffingwell does a great job finding the open receiver and forcing open field tackles.
