Foundation game?

They are a glorified scrimmage thats all and shouldn't be used in tournament seedings. Yes V.C beat Warren in a glorifed scrimmage, Warren played players in that game that have saw only very limited time on varsity.

Seedings will go as follows:

1.Logan Elm
2.Warren
3.Athens
4.Vinton County/Sheridan

By the way Athens already won the TVC.

WHY does this guy keep bringing up a scrimmage game 3 months ago? One glaring point of comparison is Warren handled Logan, a team VC lost to by double digits. VC should be worried about meeting Warren.

Warren - 55, Logan 37
VC - 51, Logan - 61

Do the math?

Since most of those smaller schools compete in the D3 and D4 tourney where three or four advance to district and regional I don't think it is fair to compare the TVC and SEOAL on how far they go in the tourney, though I don't think the best D3 TVC school can play with the SEOAL's best D3 school (Ironton). Not sure about D2 either and since there are not D1 schools in the TVC well then. The D2 District get one to regional and only two from each sectional to district.

Apples to apples

jcbigblue/hard rock 21, i remember reading that Warren fans on here argued last year that because they beat VC in the Foundation game at Warren by more than 10 points that they deserved a higher seed than VC even though they had more losses than VC. i guess that their fans are not allowed to make the same argument this yr.

NO, neither team should be allowed that argument.

I'm for Warren as the #2 seed...but the VC/Logan/Warren scores just don't work

Manchester beat Ironton...North Adams beat Manchester....so North Adams would be Ironton?

1-13 West Union beat Southeastern by about 13....Southeastern beat Huntington...Huntington beat Piketon....and so on

More Proof.......Athens drilled Gallia Academy.....within days Athens was drilled by Jackson....and of course Gallia Academy beat jackson....@ Jackson for that matter.

I just can't see a team going 19-1 and being denied at the very least a No. 2 seed ... Some could make an argument for the No. 1 ... But a 3 seed? No way ... Athens has Meigs and NY on the 12th and 13th - so to say they will be 17-1 at the draw is pretty concievable.

The funny thing is though, who really cares? The 2 & 3 will have to play each other anyway to reach the Convo ... I know playing VC for a 3rd time is probably not the best scenerio, beating a team that is on an even keel with you 3 times in one season is extremly tough ... Not that playing Warren isn't, but the 'unknown' could end up favoring you (in terms of match-up's, offensive/defensive styles, etc..etc..) or it may not ... The bottom line is - THE D-2 SECTIONAL IN LOGAN is pretty stacked! Everyone seems to be writting off Sheridan and Fairfield Union and that could be a huge mistake!

Agree, foundation games are scrimmages. Good teams are working on getting ready for the season and aren't too concerned with the score. Frankly, I'd rather see an extra regular season tango added for the same purpose and drop the foundation game.

Well if that happened they needed to be scolded for it imo, and Athens should not get any seed lower than a 2, i don't care what kind of argument anyone can come up with to try to get them any lower because their record is to good for that low a seeding. Warren doesn't deserve to be any higher than 3, if they could of beaten Ironton @ home i would have said maybe but that didn't happen. So it should be imho, 1. Logan Elm, 2. Athens, 3. Warren, 4. Vinton County, 5. Sheridan, 6. Fairfield Union, 7. Gallia, 8. Marietta, 9. New Lexington.

I would also like to say Congrats to Athens on winning the T.V.C Ohio.

Kenny, seriously dude.

I believe that whole Warren/Vinton County Foundation game reference was with tongue firmly implanted in the cheek. If some of you would remember, there were posters who said at this time last year that Vinton County could not beat Warren because of the 12 point loss in the Foundation Game. To which I had coined the phrase "glorified scrimmage." So any reference to this year's Foundation Game was meant for humor.

In my opinion, Athens is the one seed. They should not have to apologize for the schedule, nor their conference. Every game they went out and did what they had to do, win.

Well if Athens is good enough to get the 1 then V.C. should probably be the 3. Whats everyone think about that.

The only thing i meant by the foundation game is the fact that Warren isnt heads and tails above VC just because of the league they are in. VC is definatly going to be a tough out no matter who they play. VC plays NY this Friday and Piketon Saturday...If VC can pick up those to games and Warren slips up before Sunday...i could definatly see Sheridan getting the 3 seed. IMO Logan Elm is the best team in the sectional...but based off the results of this season, Athens could very well be the one seed. After Logan Elm..Athens, Warren and VC are very much equal. Any one of those teams could make it out if the draw falls in their favor. And to the people who thinks the foundation game was a throwaway...were you there?

jc,
You've argued that Warren is better than Vinton County, and now you're saying that VC should be seeded higher? Which is it?

Seeding should go

1. Athens
2. Logan Elm
3. Warren
4. Vinton County
5. Sheriden
6. Fairfield Union
7. Gallipolis
8. Marietta
9. New Lexington

Yes I was there and Warren treated it some what like a game but if it were like a actual game Maddox would have only played 7 or 8 players not the 10 or 11 that actually saw time. Granted when the fourth quarter rolled around he did basically play only his 5 projected starters and was trying to get the W and came just short.

Andy, all i'm saying is if people who do the draw and vote Athens in the #1 seed in the sectional MUST be able to see that Vinton is the second best in the T.V.C., and MUST be clearly better than Sheridan and Warren and deserve that 3 seed because they played Athens very close both times and if from what I hear could have made a few of their free throws they would be champs of the T.V.C.. Then may I ask would they be deserving of the #1 seed.

IMHO Vinton, Sheridan, Warren and even Athens (although their record is much better) are equal. I really think everyone of these teams will try to avoid Logan Elm as long as possible, but I think this is the year that one of these teams can beat them as they aren't nearly as good as they have been in the past from what I have seen from them. So like i said in a earlier post Logan Elm, Athens, Warren, then Vinton. I will stick to that and not try to be sarcastic anymore.

I watched the Warren players at Jackson for 3 qtrs and they played it like somewhat of a game as well...then they played their game in the 4th to overhaul an 11 point deficit.

How can you have VC 3 spots behind Athens? Athens just nipped them twice by the smallest of margins.

Regardless of where Athens is placed....VC should either be next or the next one after that.

Sheridan is really screwing up the easiness of seeding this bracket! Where did you fairly put them???? I really have no clue but I'd give them the #4 or #5

and before everyone forgets......Gallia Academy is getting much better at Ozzy ball and Marietta is well-improved from early on....you guys can give Jackson as assist for that non-favor.
