Hughes was a great player......and had the final say in THAT game...but Lewis surpassed her. Jamie Lewis was the most exciting player I've seen in the SE district......Katie Smith was far and away the best. Amy Hughes was way up the list of course.

My family and I have driven to Waverly and Lancaster and Columbus to support the Lady Oaks in the majority of their tournament games since the heartbreaking loss to Wheelersburg and Amy Hughes in Waverly back in 1995.....but I must make one comment from above that I don't agree with.
I remember quite well a 4th or 5th grader playing basketball (just messing around) at the YMCA in Jackson. She really caught my eye on how easy she was doing things that were part of the game of basketball. Now I'm no basketball scout of any count....but that girl, providing she kept playing was going to be a very good player. Another of the players mentioned....well let's just say she has some killer genes. Her Dad started at OU and back in his days of focusing a bit on basketball was one of the better players we ever faced......these players I'm talking about were VERY good players when they went to Oak Hill...Coach Doug Hale is one of THE very best coaches around....but those two girls aren't twice the player because they went to Oak Hill....no way, those two girls would be great nearly anywhere.....especially in SE Ohio.
Good Luck in you very long tourney run.....this may very well be THE year. And if it is I'll gladly spend my $60 and be cheering them along with my family.
Well said, Ironman92! I know what girls you are talking about and they were great players before they made it to Oak Hill. Glad to hear the Lady Oaks have some fans from Ironmen territory. I won't be able to make the game Thursday due to a prior commitment, but I will be cheering them in absentia.

Re: Oak Hill vs. Portsmouth- Sectional Final
I have NEVER heard so much whining about something that is meaningless in all my life!!! Who cares where he/she moved from or whatever the case may be! I have 2 kids the play for a Greenup Co. Ky school district, and my daughter wants to play for a program that is known for having not only a good sports program, but academics as well! She very well may end up @ Oak Hill, or she may go somewhere else. Yes, shes only 11, but shes averaging 13.7 points per game, 8 Rebs, and 5 assists...but does that make her an all star....no! Have I been asked to let her play AAU by other coaches, yes. BUT who cares! If the KID wants to play quality ball at a school with good ACADEMICS as well...I would let her transfer! Suck it up people...this isn't the 70s-80s days!!!
By the way...Nice job Doug Hale!!! I've seen your past and present teams, and as always, looking good. Nice ball movement! Never seen a team pass the ball as well as this one does!!!
On a lighter note...Tom Hardy is doing OK after his "crash" at the tipoff of the game! We have placed his order for his Hoveround! Should arrive at the Convo just in time!!!!! We love ya Tommie!!!!
