Burdette had 31 points. Eastern was in foul trouble the entire game. Jackson can shoot the ball but missed way too many bunnies and turned the ball over in the second half. They had no answer for Burdette. At one point Jackson had 3 players guarding her and she was still dribbling wherever she wanted. Both teams played well, if Eastern wasn't in foul trouble I think it would have been a much larger margin.

What if Jackson would've made the bunnies?

Seriously though....how good is the Burdette girl compared to some of the great ones who have came through SE Ohio. Does she remind you of an Alyssa Hammond....Kayla Cook....Krystal Tharp.....Beth Howe......

Is she possibly as good as Marlene Stallings or even Jamie Lewis

Please don't bother if you are going to say Katie Smith.

From what I hear, Eastern could have easily won this game by at least 20. The number 2 guard from Eastern fouled out with 5 mins left in the game. The Burdette girl finished the game with 4 fouls and the entire team played conservatively because of all the fouls being called on them. These girls are very hard working, they play team ball and deserve all the credit for this win. The fouls were very lopsided and it was a very loud gym. Those Jackson fans can sure make some noise. As for how good the Burdette girl is, the only one who can stop her is---the Burdette girl. She is a class act who likes to see everyone on the team score. She sees the court like no other 8th grader I have ever seen and is just as apt to get the assist as to score the ball. She is a sweet and kind hearted girl who can really play the game.

That sounds like Jamie Lewis.....but I'd need many to get on here to agree to believe that.

Eastern in SE D4 next year......enjoy

great game by both teams :-D

burdett girl is the real deal...

most varsity games are not as good as this one. but i don't think eastern c :-D uld have one this one by 20. it was a 6 point lead at half and less than a minute to go eastern lead by 7 untill jackson had to start fouling..

great job both teams :)

Burdett is as good as the hype but Jackson had their chances to win this game. Way too many shots in the paint off target. Credit an aggressive defense by Eastern. Alot of fouls in this game (both called and uncalled) but both teams were in the bonus and had players in trouble so i don't feel it was lopsided. Game plans changed on both sides at halftime not because of the fouls but because i think both coaches realized that they had finally met their match and the old pound them into the ground game wasn't gonna cut it. Burdett took over midway through the second half it seemed and kept Jackson just out of reach showing that she can handle the bigger stage but i'll hold off on comparing her to anyone till she gets some varsity experience. Eastern was the better team last night. Thank you to both teams for a great game.....

No way that Eastern should have won by a larger margin! Yeah Eastern was in foul trouble but Jackson missed a ton of layups and went 11 for 28 from the FT line. 11 of 28!!!!! If Jackson makes half of their missed layups and half of their missed FT's then this game could have easily went a different way......BUT that didn't happen and I congratulate Eastern on the win. I also want to congratulate the Jackson girls because they never quit even when they were down by 11 early on. Remember that you have a ton of basketball left to played in your careers and losses like this one can only help you grow. By the way Ironman92, I've seen a lot of great players and Burdette is the real deal. If she keeps it up then I guarantee she will be playing some major college ball some day!

Great 1st half to watch. One official got caught up in the talent the second half & really struggled. Need to be a bit older and do a consistant job the entire game. May not changed outcome of winner/loser, but would have been very clean played 2nd half. Have never seen a jr. high school game with so much talent & ability on the floor for BOTH teams. A game of runs by both teams. Really enjoyed the game & level of play. Nice tourney Coach Hale!

AS FOR BURDETTE, I watched ALL the above mentioned in jr. high, EXCEPT Smith. All skills considered, I don't believe any are NEAR her level of play at that age. I have never seen a jr. high player that a good team defense wasn't able to somewhat control. Jackson played good team defense most of the game, but burdettes size, quickness, & shiftiness allowed her to seem superior on the court.

Jackson had their share of talent on the floor. It was a very good to watch the players on the floor & think what could be in SE ohio in the next few years: Jackson & Vinto Co.-- D2, Oak hill -- D-3, & M Eastern -- D4

Good game Jackson & even greater season, BEST OF LUCK IN THE FUTURE!!!

Games are tonight at 6:00 for Jackson and Vinton County and 7:30 for Eastern and Huntington both games at VCHS.

Yes there were a lot of fouls called in the Jackson / Eastern game but with that level of aggressiveness the officials need to call fouls in order to keep control of the game. Fouls were Jackson-20 and Eastern-18 so I don't think anyone can say it was one-sided. There were missed calls but with 2 officials they can't see all views of the court and I think did a pretty good job. I know I wouldn't want to officiate that game.

Jackson played VC earlier this year and won by one point on a 3 pt shot as time expired as I heard it. Should be a good game although the Dixon girl is out with an ankle injury. We'll see.

I'm not sure that Huntington and Eastern have ever played.

Thanks to the teams for coming to a very well run tourney with some great competition. It would be very easy to go to a tourney where you know you will beat teams by 40 pts in a championship game. It's nice to see teams willing to put their undefeated records on the line.

Nice tourney Coach Hale. Congrats to all the teams.

My daughter's text partner said that Eastern lost to Huntington St. Joe by 7; 56 - 49. No info on Jackson vs Vinton Co.

I think Eastern gave Huntington more than they wanted. Burdette finished with 29. Huntington has one heck of a ball team. They led from start to finish. I think only losing by 7 was a win for Eastern. This was a great environment for these girls to play in. Id like to see a varsity rematch here in a couple years. Nice tournament to both teams.
