State of Marietta Football?
I saw that their coach left and went to Warren. I saw that Marietta has their own football website, it seems like they had a good number of players in their program and a number of assistant coaches. Also it looks like they have pretty goood facilities. Is Warren a better football program with better players than Marietta? Just seems strange to me that a Marietta grad would go over to Warren to teach and coach. Is marietta football down? I know they had a bad season last year, but Warren had their first winning season in 10 years I believe so it's not like Warren is some football power. From the outside looking in Marietta seems to have the best shot to be a more consistent winner than Warren, am I wrong?

Marietta is entering a very difficult football conference in 2011, and there was some tension between Coach Schob and the Marietta board. Politics APPEAR to be one of the reasons he left Marietta, but that's simply what it looks like on the outside.
Warren historically has had a good football program, although the past 10 years have been rough. If Coach Schob is planning to stay for the long haul (and I believe he is), and especially with a possible league change coming in the next half-decade or so, Warren football should quickly return to competitive play year in, year out.
Best of luck to Marietta as they restructure their program.

I heard today that the next coach from Marietta may come out of Columbus. There was talk that somebody that used to coach with Hale and teach at MHS that is coaching in Columbus is going to come down and get the job. I culd not catch a name or know anything else.

Interesting post to lead into this discussion. Certainy the person posting has some insight into the football in the area. Marietta has had Warren's number for the past several years until this year. Warren had the advantage for several years before that. Marietta was the dominate team prior to that run. It is hard to say who will dominate going forward. One think I do know, it will be fun watching the teams evolve and the games will continue to great contests. I just hope that they continue to play for many years to come.
The job was just posted outside the district after the manditory internal posting. It is too soon to speculate on who will be selected to lead the program.
Good luck to the Warriors and Tigers as both teams work to improve.

Why would the coach at a prominent catholic program in Columbus ever consider coming to freakin Marietta?

Burch Teaches English I think-
As most of you know our district is in the hole bigtime
I think he would need a Teaching job to go with his football salary

There is no and will be no English job at Marietta with all of the budgetary concerns and a $1,000,000 short fall.
He would be a good candidate though.
