Re: Tom Metters in need of prayers
My thoughts and prayers are definitely with Tom, whom I had the privilege and honor of working alongside at The Athens Messenger for nearly five of my 12-plus almost 13 years as a professional.
He is a mentor in many ways to me, not just a colleague, and is - first and foremost - a good friend.
For 3.5 years at The Athens Messenger, Tom was my right-hand man and I never had to worry about things getting done. Anything I asked of Tom, he did and he ALWAYS was looking to help in any way he could. I am eternally greatful and forever indebted to Tom.
I wish Tom a speedy yet patient rand full ecovery, and hope he follows doctors orders.
I also hope he is well enough to come home, and I hope to see him on the tournament trail at the Convocation Center.
Quite frankly, and I think I can speak on behalf of many people, the Southeast District boys basketball tournament would not be the same without him.
Get well Tom.

Re: Tom Metters in need of prayers
Great to hear that Tom is doing better. He is one of the class guys in all of southeastern Ohio and his love of his school sports is very apparent in conversations with him over the years whether it be for the District/Regional basketball tournaments, high school baseball/softball tournaments, or the American Legion Baseball State Tournament in Athens. As somebody previously mentioned he is pretty much a walking trivia book with his overall knoweldge of sports. Continued thoughts and prayers for Tom from an old friend of his from Post 23.
Re: Tom Metters in need of prayers
TOM CALLED ME THIS MORNING AND ASKED ME TO TELL EVERYONE HOW MUCH HE APPRECIATES YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. HE THINKS HE'S GETTING OUT TODAY.

Tom,
Welcome back to the outside world and I hope you heed your doctor's orders so you can see all the sports you plan on seeing in the coming months.
Just take it easy for now and get as much rest as you can.
Your friend up on the east side.
