Minford (1st round exit)

Post by Bulldog96 »

What happened? Nothing posted in the paper of course (Portsmouth Daily Times)? All I've seen is the posts by Trimble folks, thanks for the updates. Apparently Minford had the lead at half time, but per the Trimble posts they got outscored 40-17. Just wanting to hear about the game, scoring leaders, etc..

That hurts. Was hoping SOC II teams would move on.

Bad loss for Minford. Trimble is not one of the better TVC teams and looks like they just caught on fire in the second half. Minfords coach obviously was not able to adjust.

Can you say anything positive about anyone? Trimble has played some good basketball as of late, they finished 3rd in their league behind two of the better teams in the area (only league losses) regardless of size. Trimble has as many offensive weapons as any girls team in the area. But all you want to do is talk down local kids. Get over the fact that you can't coach your little baby anymore and move on.

Congrats to Trimble, they came ready to play.

Lakin Gambill getting hurt late in the season really hurt the Falcons

Yes it did, she is a fine player and her loss was a big blow to Minford.

People need to bear in mind that these are high school kids. As such they are going to have games where things don't go their way regardless of how hard they play or how well they are coached. This is especially true in girls basketball. Sounds like Trimble had one of those rare games where everything they shot went in. Hard to win against a team having that kind of game or in this case half. I am sure that the Minford team and coaches wanted to win and gave their best effort to win. Sometimes it's enough and sometimes it's not but theres not much more you can ask of a high school basketball team other than giving their best effort.
Congratulations to Minford on a good season and best of luck next year.

Boomer: Don't let 78 get ya, his M.O. is to run around and bash and dig at every team in the Athens area. And by doing so he disrespects others. Trimble played well, they have a lot of kids who can score and shoot. On any given night they can create a little havoc. Minford losing to them is not the end of the world of the Minford program.
