I know Athens at least has the far advantage in coaching aspect because Skinner is so much smarter than Maddox but the only problem is that Warren has more athletes and it is alot easier for Warren to put a better team on the floor year in and year out but if they would have had Skinner as coach the last few years they might have had a State Title uner ther belt by now. go athens beat the arrogant warriors and there filthy acting and poor sporting fans.

Ive had the chance to see each team play 3 times this year. Both teams are without doubt quality ballclubs. This is a better matchup than everybody is giving it credit. Warren has the edge in playoff experience. Everybody expects them to make it at least this far every year. One thing that we are all overlooking though is the fact that Athens aint satisfied by just winning the TVC, this group of kids are hungry and want it more.

Is Athens actually 19-1? If you go to their web site they show them losing to Jackson 70-44 on 12/8/09 and also losing to Greenup Ky 47-37 on 1/18/10.

It is amazing that people would post "smarter than" when it comes to the student athletic making the plays, not coaches. If you want to talk or write about pretty then thats is OK. Everyone really needs to support their team and hopefully they will leave happy after the game. Both schools are quality schools with great teaching staffs including their students. Remember on any given night anybody can beat anybody depends if the ball is going in their direction.

Ive seen Belpre play both of these teams this year. IMO Belpre should have beaten athens at their place but #32 came in and hit 4 3's in a row. Belpre was nowhere near beating warren both times they played. Warren doesnt have a starter under 6' and are very athletic. Cunningham will probably have about 30 in this one. Athens 3 point D is not very good, and Venham will score about 20 like he usually does, and whoeve has the hot hand for athens will be soon shut down because fivecoat wont let him see the rim. I have a good handle on the number of league, sectional, district, regional, etc. championships that Athens has won since 2000.

What is the history of the Warriors in this regard since the year 2000 and in particular, since Coach Maddox (an excellent coach as is Coach Skinner I may add) has been the head coach?

Also, how many appearances has Warren made at the Convo during this time period?

I believe Skinner was the coach before. Before the Cut and Run was established.

Isn't Warren the underdog(according to the seedings and all)? There is no way Warren can win by double digits the coaches at the seedings say Athens is better, heck they have only lost 1 game all year that should tell you something right there. IF Warren wins this game it would be a big upset wouldn't it? Heck Athens beat Vinton twice and Vinton handled the Warriors in the foundation game and in other years as well! Heck I would even have to go and say IF Warren wins, the SEOAL would gain some respect from beating the once beaten champions of the TVC and their #11 ranking. Shoot the only team ranked in the SEOAL is D III Ironton and they beat Warren twice didn't they? But these are some big IF's aren't they?

Good points moon. I think Athens should win this game. If they don't then it would mean that Maddox out coached Skinner in my opinion.

Batman and Robin will take care of business easily. The Venham/Cunningham duo will combine for at least half of warrens points. Fivecoait will lead both teams in rebounds and be in double digit points. The score at the end of the first will be close, but Warren will handle Athens after that with ease, no doubt in my mind. I like how people refer to the VC foundation game but nobody looks back at the athens scrimmage where warren, well I guess you could say whooped athens. Yeah yeah athens isn't the same team as they were at the scrimmage, or even last year, but neither is warren. Its just obvious warren is the better team with the better athletes. No disrespect to athens though. I think this episode will just be a rerun. Go warriors!!!!!!!!!
