Im going to try, Dundas. Ive been lucky enough to make a few of VCs games this season. Ive been trying to talk my wife into comming to a game... she loves basketball, but the way her work schedule has been this year, its been too tough for her to watch a game. Fortunatly, for her, I can at least DVR the UK games for her.

well, I figured it would be a good one

VC has trouble not making every shot ever when it comes down to it.....quite the flaw to have

Dundas,

I need to correct one thing after reading your updates. With two seconds to go and Sheridan is inbounding the ball, a General player raced to set a pick on Ethan Allen who was facing in player inbounding the ball. He ran into Ethan extremely hard, so instead of drawing a foul, he committed one. So it was VC ball in under their own basket, two seconds on the clock and up one point and no time-outs left for either team.

Nice position to be in but still gut-wrenching to watch. VC has had problems inbounding the ball at times this year.

What comes next was sheer brilliance on Coach Matt Combs part. I mean SHEER BRILLIANCE!!

I think Grillo was inbounding the ball and everyone was tightly guarded. You can't afford a time-out, you have none. I assume Combs told Grillo what to do but am not certain. This was pure genius on VC part.

Grillo tossed the ball to the player guarding him. The guy was totally shocked. He hesitated, then turned to head upcourt for a shot, realized he had to shoot it quickly and in his fumbling to get off a shot, he double dribbles. I guarantee you there was not one person in that gym who would have thought of that strategy except Combs.

Sheridan certainly was caught with their pants down and was unable to even get a throw at the basket, let alone a shot. I have never seen that before, but it was a smart move, the right move at the time. Combs is a genius at getting high school boys to play the game of basketball as well as they do. His guys always work hard on defense.

I give a shout out to Adam Ward and Levi Lawhead who kept the Vikings in the game tonight and to Andy Grillo for two superb drives to the basket in the last minute and a half for VC final points to win the game. He is a very heady player and couldn't buy a basket from outside, but he know how and when to drive for the basket. Great job Andy.

Well said RBR. The Vikings did tonight what they failed to do last Saturday night against Jackson...and that is close it out...They found themselves down just like against Jackson...came back..and finished the job. Nice win over a nice team! Hopfully this builds momentum for the Logan Elm game Saturday!! Im sure it wont hurt!!!

Space...WCH and Hillsboro advanced in the SE Sectional. 8 GREAT teams are left in the DII SE district..Probably the best 8 teams starting out..no upsets thus far..

IMO..VC beating Logan Elm would be an upset.. Athens and Warren wouldn't be considered an upset either way..Chilli, Waverly, Hillsboro and WCH are all pretty equal so i wouldnt think any of those would be considered upsets either...I think its turned out like it was expected thus far.

Vintons coach won this game, plain and simple. Sheridan had the ball up 46-43 with 36 seconds to go and not only don't get to the free throw line, they don't attempt a shot and turn it over three times. Not to mention they give up two straightline to the basket layups without a challenge. Vintons coaching staff does an excellent job, Sheridan was a much more athletic team, albiet they were missing their best player and point guard. Good news for Sheridan is they are all underclassmen so next year should be pretty promising.

I heard on the radio that they are only losing one player...The Generals should be great next year!
