When did I say Unioto would have beaten Chillicothe without Turner? I never said and don't think they would.

I was talking about the Jackson game with Kretzler about him taking over, so i assumed thats what you meant.

My thoughts are Waverly needs to take care of the ball nothing fancy dont force the ball and start off by pounding it down inside, then pound it some more when they are done with that pound it some more. I would have all three bigs in the blocks all night, this isnt about style point this is just about the W. Go Tigers
Waverly 46-Chilli 42
Or Malik will foul out in the first quarter.
I highly doubt Malik will get in foul trouble. He is THE BEST defender I have ever seen for his age(I saw Mullens, Yancy Gates, Koufos, and others live as freshman and sophomores). He has an uncanny knack for staying out of foul trouble for someone so young and so tall. If Waverly "gets physical" and goes after Malik they will probably get some baskets but they will definately see some shots go the other way. It's funny how a lot of times he will have 4 or 5 blocks at halftime and end up with only 1 or 2 more in the game cuz teams realize they should STAY OUT OF THE PAINT. On the defensive end of the floor the paint BELONGS TO MALIK LONDON. If Waverly insists on pounding it throughout the game London could end up with 10 or 15 blocks.
What is the status on Kretlzer? What is even wrong with him?
Re: 2/26 2010 Chillicothe vs. Waverly 7:00 @ Southeastern.
Waverly needs to control the pace of the game. We'll need to be selective on when to push the ball up the court. Can't afford many unforced turnovers.
I believe our best chance at victory will come if we take to ball to the hole. Pull-up jumpers in the paint will result in easy blocks for the big kid for the Cavs, who is quick off his feet and has long arms. Take the ball to the hole and hope to draw contact. And then of course hit the foul shots. If we can get to the line this will also slow the game down which should be to our advantage.

For Waverly to win they need to make Chilli score in the half court. If you give Chilli easy buckets they will win. The cavs have trouble scoring out of sets and in a slow down game, so the key for Waverly is to limit the turnovers and leak outs for easy points in transition. Waverly's guards are prone to turnovers, so they're going to have to step up their game and take extra good care of the rock. If they can keep the game in the 40's, i like Waverly's chances.
As for Malik London, he's very good about not getting in foul trouble early. He often will let shots go by early in the game without contesting heavily and then as the game goes on and he's in good shape foul wise he starts turning them away one after another. For a kid his age he's terrific at not leaving his feet until the shot is released, thus making it easier for him to stay out of foul trouble. His length allows him to react late and still reject the shot.
The wild card and difference in this game will be Jalen Ragland for the Cavs. If he comes out and his jumper is falling, Cavs will win. Turner is going to get his 20, but if Ragland can compliment him with 15-18 points, Chilli stands a good chance here.
This will be a great game and it's really a coin toss who will come out on top. I know i'll have a blast watching. I was just telling someone the other night that this is the tougest test Chilli has faced in the sectional since their reign of district titles began.

If this turns into a track meet, this game will not be close, chilli by a lot. Waverly has to get back on defense and make Chillicothe run half court sets to get the win. I like Chillicothe by double digits.

Dat and DShanton both good posts! Chillicothe must get out and run, run, run! They do that Chilly will win! Like I said earlier though Chillicothe by 5...

Excellent post D3. Even though London does do a good job of staying out of foul trouble, I still think Waverly has to go inside and challenge him and work inside out to try to give Kretzler open looks. I still think Chilli will be smart enough to not help off of Kretzler when the ball goes inside, but that seems to me the smart game plan for the Tigers. Also, I think they need to go in with a chip on they're shoulder and play rough and make it ugly. This game has to be slow and PHYSICAL for them to win. That being said, I think the Cavs win.

Good Luck Tigers!
If Waverly controls the tempo of the game and limits their turnovers, they will be there in the end.

Good luck Tigers. To win you must control the tempo of this game and handle Chilli's pressure D. If you do, you have a good shot! Represent the SOC with pride!
How is Martin? Is he going to be able to play? If so, is he back to full strength?

On the flip side, If I'm Chilli, I'm gonna run, run and run some more. Pressure the crap out of the guards and make that post entry a difficult pass with someone in your face.
This should be a good game. I don't see a blow out either way but I'm taking the speed of Chillicothe.
Very good analysis. I also think Chilli should get physical with Waverly. If they do it will get in the Waverly players heads and they will lose their composure. OH did this and it worked to perfection.
So you're saying that the tough act was premeditated? Pick out the smallest kid on the floor, throw him down, and put him in a headlock and then hold him down was a good way to get in Waverly"s head. Your whole thought process is disgusting. Bullies are everybody's heroes.

Waverly is more physical team, bring it on!

Will this game be broadcast over the internet? I know wbex does not do this, didn't know if any Waverly radio stations do. Thanks

Tigers2010, can you provide us with any statistical information? Everyone seems to think that Kretzer is this high percentage 3 point marksman when i'd be willing to bet his percentage from deep is maybe 25 percent. He's more dangerous using his size and athleticism around the basket 15 feet and in. In fact, in speaking with some of my family in Waverly who are avid Tiger supporters, they said "the worst thing that can happen is for Kretzer to hit his first 3, because then he will stand outside and gun them all night". I don't think he can hurt Chilli standing outside making himself small. He's got to get on the glass and get second chance points and finish easy looks and when doing so he needs to focus more on going strong and making them foul him rather than his usual double pumping and contorting looking to draw a foul that may not be there.

Good post, he will not get 15 20 points shooting outside all night and if he tries then Waverly cannot win, Kretzler has to make himself known down low tonight.
