Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Legg for Piketon is a great shooter tho thats for sure. If he had another guard to take some of the pressure off Sports101 he would do some awesome things. So I agree with you there. After about 2 1/2 quarters his legs were gone and sucking wind. Nothing bad about him at all. Hintz wears people out. Heck he wears me out watching him play. Congrats to the Peake! And yes, it was a very good season for the Streaks. Maybe see ya again same time same place next year. 6 more days Peake fans! Well, 5 if you consider its now officially Monday. And congrats Copley. 1000 points for a junior is a great accomplishment.

I haven't watched any SEO basketball yet this year other than a couple Logan Elm games but I always make it down to the Convo for the Regionals and most often the District Finals which is where I will be next Friday and Saturday. Question for the Piketon fans. After the superb run last year I thought they would be just about as good this year. I thought the Southworth kid was back this year (I know he played football) and who was the guard they were missing ? I really liked watching you guys play last year and was sorry to see you lose that way at state, it was just a bad day because the team was better than they played that day for sure. [/quo
Sothworth was not aloud to play do to a school related promblem, and about being a guard short, i ment they just didnt have a guard to handle peaks pressure.
Gotcha, thanks !!!!!

Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
First of all...I would like to congratulate Chesapeake on a nice win and they executed their game plan. I would also like to congratulate all of our Piketon players on a nice season, and to our seniors, they have a lot of great memories to enjoy the rest of their lives...they are great kids! This was a great year, especially when you consider Piketon lost nearly 2500 points off last year's team!
As for the game...Piketon is a much better team than played tonight; simply it was not our night. Chesapeake is a nice squad, and I see them as a tough out for anyone. Their size is a going to be a huge problem for any teams to match up with down the road.
As for the game...Fouls didn't make the difference in the game...We knew it was going to be physical; 10-2 at half was a little lopsided, but hey, it's districts--you have to play through it. As for this being a complete blow out from the start, I disagree...When Brush went to the bench, I believe it was around a 4 point game in the 2nd quarter...Piketon self destructed with 13 first half turnovers and 0 offensive rebounds; plus Peake shot around 8 or 10 ft's to Piketon's 2. I don't care who you play, those stat lines are not promising for any team! I do think the size affected interior shots; however, Evan Legg was solid for the streaks and proved why he is a top player in the area (20pts). I thought McMaster was the difference of the game...his ability to shoot over the defense and extend the defense was huge...for a sophmore, he is quite a talent. Copley was held in check, but the bigs were just too much for Peake. Had Southworth been eligible, I think this game would've been even up...strategy would've been different and so forth...however, he wasn't, enough said....As for the Piketon players looking tired...I think they did get tired of getting banged around by bigger, stronger players.....also, we had a few guys out with ankle injuries, so that hurt our conditioning...Vulgamore was out with ankle injury; Lewis didn't have his best game tonight, either...but it happens....
All in all, though...simply Chesapeake was better tonight. I wish our streaks would've put together a better effort...it didn't happen, but I'm still happy to be a Redstreak...I look forward to next year's team...there is a lot of talent returning, so should make for another fun year...
Good Luck to Chesapeake....will be rooting against you one more time, just because ZT is in our conference...however, if you do win, we will wish you alll the luck the rest of the way in the tourney You have a very nice team.

Congratulations to the Peake on a great win over a good opponent. Having said that its time to get back to work as many know the panthers are full of unfinished business from years gone by. Take each game one at a time and don't get caught looking ahead. Working hard and staying grounded is what wins basketball games not what is posted on this sight. Good Luck against what will surely be a formidable opponent in Zane Trace.

Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Just too much length for the Streaks to deal with. It hurt in all areas of the game. Couldn't get shots off easily, couldn't rebound, couldn't contest shots very well either. All because of a huge difference in reach - almost across the board. We were very, very impatient on offense too - acted like we had to beat a five second shot clock and forced up an unbelievable amount of bad shots. But, in the big picture, it has been a very good season and I look for another one next year. A lot of good young players will be a year older next year.

First allow me to eat "crow" Chesapeake is a lot better that I thought they were...nice team. Second that was the worst Piketon performance I've seen since the game at the Convo vs. the Burg two years ago. It looked as though they were just happy to be there. Although I'm a coach Lisath fan, I question some of his moves last night...going to freshmen in the first half was very risky, although some of the starters failed to show up. I really didn't think they were ready for that stage. Third...Piketon looked physically weak and a step behind on every play....maybe it was the long lay off between games or Chesapeake was just stronger and in better conditioning.

Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Congrats to Chesapeake on the win. Congrats to Piketon on a good season. The Streaks seemed to be out of control last night and did not play fundamental basketball. They appeared to not to run any offense and took bad shots all night. it is hard to beat a good team playing like that.
Still, the Streaks return a solid nucleus of players in Legg, Brush, and Vulgamore and should be very good again next season.

Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Cant take anything away from the Peake, they played hard and smart and knocked down the shots when they needed to. Piketon was just out physicalled, plain and simple, from the guards on down to the post. Fine season for the Streaks, good luck to the Panthers.
Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Having southworth would have changed the game less rebounds and inside scoring for peake and from what i could tell peake wasnt shooting to well outside but we just got out hustled...... how many times did peake score on a fast break?.......... I agree getting freshman experience in the regular season but post season in a crucial game IDK not a good call to me and why take Jamie helton out splashing 3's pulling us back? Alot of missed calls but no matter the refs comes down to the coaching and players we just didn't have the spark tonight...... just going to come out and say it lewis, legg, helton, brush, southworth vs peake they had no chance

It was obvious, Piketon's game plan was to shut down Copley. Chessy is not just a one man show and a lot of people are eating crow right now . McMasters stepped up big last night and made his shots, but a lot credit is seldom is given to the other
things that win ball games. The Hintz kid is a defensive terror for any point guard trying to get the ball into their sets, and the
the two big guys can score from inside or outside. The Saunders kid had 14 pts. & 14 rbs. and plays good defence. The Kennedy
kid had 9 pts., 12 rbs. & 5 blocked shots and altered several other shots. Twenty three points, 26 rebounds and 5 blocked shots from two players is not bad for ROLL players. Playing good defence, hustle, rebounding and being in great condition is what wins ball games.

Who had no chance? Peake?
Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
One player wouldn't have made that much of a difference in my opinion. Peake owned Piketon from all angles- defense, offense, inside, outside. One guy couldn't have stopped all of that. It may have been a little closer, though.
Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Southworth would have dominated down low on defense and rebounding all your inside points and 2nd chance opportunities would alot less all im saying is southworth would have changed the outcome of the game
Re: Piketon vs. Chesapeake
Guess you'll never know D23. But I wouldnt go around Piketon saying if he played the Peake wouldnt have a chance. You may have to relocate if you did. Time to go play golf. This thread (and the game) is over.

You're right...it's over! I apologize to Coach L. for my comment. Piketon has won 18, 15, 24, 15 games during 4 of his 6 seasons...3 Holiday Classic, 4 Sectionals, 1 District, 1 Regional, and 1 SVC Titles. In addition to playing the toughest schedules in school history....I'm sure his six season totals exceed any other Piketon Head Coach. And we have next year with 7 of top 10 players returning, including 4 starters Legg, Brush, Helton and Vulgamore.

Coach Kelley,
You are not fooling me, I know you dont care about ZT, just as long as Arton Tigers win you will be a happy camper. Better be pulling for the Jeeps too.
