Anyone else really disappionted in the seedings? don't know how waterford is seeded higher than belpre when belpre beat them twice on the season!!!! Waterford is having a great season but to lose twice, well don't know . . . . but again we have always been on the short end, noone ever battles for what is right when it comes to this. . . .belpre always concedes or gives in . . .either seeding, home field advantage, etc . . . .call it like we see it . . . .Good Luck Lady Eagles go deep into the tourney!

Don't feel alone in your bewilderment. Apparently, the regular season means NOTHING.

scorekeeper1, waterford is 15-7, belpre is 14-7 with belpre winning both meetings between the two 11 to 5 1st meeting and 5 to 2 in the 2nd meeting . . with last game played on thursday before the draw. . . which would have both teams at 14-7 but believed that a headsey coach from waterford quickly scheduled make up game for saturday with team that they were odds on favorite to defeat thus making them 15-7 on saturday before the seedings. . .but again six losses for belpre were from Eastern TVC Hocking Leader with scores of 3-2 and 5-2, Athens TVC Ohio Leader with scores of 6-5 and 6-5 in 8 innings, Warren SEOAL North Champion, so belpre is not losing to any patsy teams. . .Waterford had split with eastern, lost to Belpre twice, lost to Athens, lost to Adena, lost to Crooksville, and not sure who their 7 loss is to. . .just feel that if u play someone twice and beat them and records almost identical then head to head should be the tie breaker, right?

renob, i believe ur right, IMO alot of influence being heads of the Southeast Ohio Coaches Association, Baldwin for Waterford & Estep for Symmes Valleys . . . .but u and i could be wrong . . .Both teams r very good and both should be seeded in top four of the east . . . .our coach says the drawing was based on records, in that case 15-7 waterford is better than 14-7 belpre, . . .will just have to hash it out on the diamond. . . good luck to waterford we hope that u win out in ur bracket, though ur good friend Estep of Symmes valley might have something to say about that. . . . and of course if belpre wins their bracket its a good bet we will have to face Eastern who has beaten us twice to get to the sectional finals . . . one game at a time for all ballclubs good luck, stay injury free, summer ball is on the horizon and girls on our team open up in columbus at the Capital City Showdown. . . .

Belpre get another TVC win tonight over Fed Hock 7 - 0 maybe 8 - 0, Junior Taylor Mason took the rubber for a complete game shut out, way to go Taylor . . . but though it was a win left a dozen or more runners on base . . .Good luck tomorrow vs Fort Frye . . .

Belpre Lady Eagles come from behind to get their 16th win over Fort Frye 7 - 5 , Sophmore Natalie Perry took the rubber and struggled to find a very tight stikezone this evening giving up 5 unearned runs. Fort Frye jump out to a 4 run lead before belpre could answer back with 2 run in the fouth. . Fort Frye freshman pitch did an outstanding job hitting the corners and a very nice change up, Belpre hitters finally figured her out and began their comeback lead by Junior Regina Leftwich who went 3 for 4 with a single and 2 doubles, with Mason, Fitch, McNabb, Whitney & Perry adding to the hit column. . Junior Amber Lockhart laid down a great bunt scoring two with and errand throw to first . . .knotting it up at 5 -5 Junior Regina Leftwich came in on relief to get the win by striking out the side in the 5,6, & 7 innings . . Great win tonite could have just laid down but way to battle and cudos to the freshman who had some great at bats and plays in the field. . .Good luck tomorrow as the Lady Eagles head to Alexander to try and get some payback from an earlier thumping from the Spartans. . .

Great game tonight but two run blast from Junior Taylor Mason put the Eagles up by one going into the bottom of the seventh, Junior Regina Leftwich comes in to sit down 3 of the four batters at the plate in the seventh, fans were not sure where the strike went on the free pass as onlookers seen pitch after pitch go by for a ball as blue seemed to bring out the rubics cube, but managed to stay the course for a quality win over Alexander 4 - 2 , Junior Taylor Mason took the hill and did another superb job, with a few webjems from her defense as Sophmore Brittany McNabb was money all night at 3B, Leftwich also had a nice defensive game, bright spot was Freshman Molly Miller with a hit to right field came up and threw a stike to 1B to retire the side . .Alexander didn't quit while down 2 - 0 had a 3 running inning to get on top with a deep shot to LF from SS Amber M. hope that carries over to travelball this summer. . . Good luck in sectionals Alex, Best of luck to the Lady Eagles as they open sectional play next saturday vs Trimble . . .

Lady Eagles lose lead in the sixth to a rallying Wellston team. . 5 - 4 . . . Junior Taylor Mason pitched a gem thru 4 1/3 innings then gave up one run. . .reliever sophmore Natalie Perry came in to toe the rubber in the 6th to try and get a save but the move to change pace backfires on Belpre coaches as Wellston goes off in the 6th for 4 runs to overtake belpre, though with 3 outs left in the 7th, belpre batters couldn't find a hole with a first pitch ground out for 1, 3 pitch strike out for 2, and 2 pitch ground out to end the game . . .leaves players & fans shell shocked at what they saw happen, as a battling rocket team never gave up, giving belpre their 8th loss on the season and a chance to wrap second in the TVC ohio with a win. . . now they share 2nd with a very good Alexander team . . . congrats to the Rockets nice win for them. . . Freshman Ayden Wilson had a very good game from the plate, and Junior Regina Leftwich was solid on defense, the Lady Eagles will have to pull it together as they host trimble on Saturday at Belpre Civitan Park at 1:00 pm . . .17 - 8 on the season, 8 - 4 in the TVC with 3 of those 4 losses r come from behind wins in the 6 or 7 or 8 innings, just find it difficult to close out close games . . . .while losing only one senior, next season changing from the OHIO to the HOCKING, Belpre can do very well again next season and with some hard work from up n coming underclassmen could with luck find themselves atop the Hocking. . . . Good luck Saturday as we head into tournament play, start of a new season . . .

Belpre Lady Eagles, Sectional Champs, defeats Trimble 7 - 4. . . .Junior Taylor Mason toed the rubber to start the game vs Trimble and did the Eagles proud though wildcats made a run at the eagles tieing it up at 4, in relief, Junior Regina Leftwich took over the reins and held off Trimble for the win. . . .getting things started Leftwich ripped a double to get 2 rbi's to start the eagles scoring and trimble pitched around her the rest of the evening going 1-1, 3 walks, 2 rbi's, 2 runs . . .while trimble caught the error bug in the later innings to allow belpre to score 3 to take back the lead in the sixth . . .also contributing to the hit parade, sophmores Brittany McNabb, Natalie Perry, & Whitney Gibson, Junior Taylor Mason, Senior Brandi Fitch, Freshmen Ayden Wilson & Molly Miller. . Belpre Lady Eagles also honored Seniors Brandi Fitch & Rebecca Whiting, Congrats ladies you will be missed. . . .Next up to the lady eagles is a very good Portsmouth Clay team in the district semi's on 5/20 at 4:30 pm @ Minford High School . , Good Luck Lady Eagles. . .

Clay defeated Belpre 6-5 but it could have easily gone the other way. You guys have a heckuva coach. His team is smart and their baserunners caught Clay sleeping several times. Nice to see a team ready to play the game the way it's supposed to be played. Congratulations. :aaaaa41

9 20 4, , , , this could be debated at length, just would say that without travelball and the girls who play through the summer, I believe that both teams would have been alittle short today. . . .I definately know Belpre would be down four players for sure as no substitute for travelball to improve ur high school team and make their coaches look great! But game was nothing short than entertaining. . .tale of two halves of a game,. belpre at first looked like they would wrap it up early, but clay kept battling and made a great comeback with some timely errors from Belpre and timely hits for themselves to come away with the win. . . .this game is one of those, ..... if we would of done this, then this would of happened, or if we had one more hit, one more out, one baserunner, then belpre would be playing saturday vs eastern instead of clay, but clay done that and that happened, and they had a hit, got the out, had one more baserunner and they play eastern on saturday. . . .good game to watch but someone has to win and someone has to lose . . . congrats to clay, o k season belpre . . . .

Don't know exactly what you tried to say here. As far as I know, Clay's only summer league player is Lindsay Mader and she only pitches. My point was Clay's coaches never put plays on...hit and run...double steals...delayed steals...suicide squeeze, etc. They've just not been taught yet or don't pay attention, LOL. I presume part of it is a lack of speed by Clay's players. Belpre burned Clay's defense several times with these types of plays and it's something I think Clay will have to get better at next year.

Your probably right about the need to try some aggresive baserunning and other strategies but lets not forget the Minford game when Clay committed 13 errors' (ouch). The team has worked hard and they have come a long way since the Minford game. I've seen major improvement from this very young team that starts 4 freshman, 2 soph's, 2 juniors and 1 Senior. I agree with what you are saying, I really do, but you have to admit that 21-7 is not bad. Remember Clay was not even supposed to be that good this year and I think the coaching staff has done a fine job. Next year I think Clay gets even better. I'm very proud of these overacheiving young ladies. And also Clay has four girls that play travel ball, Messer, Tackett, Mader, Hughes and Jenkins if you count next year.

But back to the main topic, Belpe is a wonderful team, well coached and a total class act.
Good Luck next season and Good Luck to the Clay Lady Panthers.

Thanks for the kind words renegade and Nine20four.....but if truth be told...the base running, hit and run, squeeze plays......didn't necessarily come from Coach Cox of Belpre.....Good Coach...but had 3 starters who hadn't played any high school ball before.....and 4 other non starters with even less experience that he had to groom for subing situations. He kind of had his hands full at the start of the year. But the 2 Juniors and 2 sophomores on our team that know how to execute these situations, have played travel ball for the Flamin' Fury organization for 5 years or more.....and were taught the delayed steal, hit and run, squeeze play......by Teressa Harper, Mary Wittekind...and all of the asst coaches for this organization over the last 5 or six years. If you know either of these two women....or anyone who has been a part of the coaching staff for this organization...then you know what heads up softball they play and teach. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Belpre does have situational plays.....but I can guanantee you that these two travel ball coaches have taught these 4 girls more about softball than anyone has.
