AP All-District sneak peak part 2
by portsmouth Stege's Sports Report1 day 17 hrs ago | 14 views | 0 | 0 | | | permalink
OK sports fans the All-District voting is complete. I’m not allowed to release any names just yet but here are a few highlights.
If the unofficial list remains the same, every school in the area will have at least an honorable mention in one gender or the other.
There should also be some Player and Coach of the Year awards of interest to local fans.
Between both genders, area athletes earned 18 first team nods, 15 second team spots and 14 third team places.
The best represented school among local teams was Oak Hill and all things considered the greater Scioto County area was among the best represented of any on the team.
The 2010 Associated Press All-District team is tentatively scheduled to be released Monday evening and will be posted here on Stege’s Sports Report as soon as it’s allowed.
Thanks for reading, see you at the games

Re: DISTRICT 13 ALL STARS ANNOUNCED
Congrats to all.......Jackson's Nicole Chapman should've been on the D2 list somewhere.
Re: DISTRICT 13 ALL STARS ANNOUNCED
I really think Strite from OH should have made honorable mention at the very least.
Re: DISTRICT 13 ALL STARS ANNOUNCED
How could Nikki Elswick not be first team best player in the area.

All the girls that made the team are deserving and I'm not taking anything away from them. Oak Hill is a great team with many interchangeable parts but the one girl they could not afford to lose would be Strite. She makes them "go". She does all the little things and is a perfect point guard for this team. I just think sometimes she doesn't get the credit she deserves.
It doesn't matter though because all the OH fans know how valuable she is.
Congrats to BREA TACKETT on first team all district, NIKKI ELSWICK, second time all district and LORNA CEASER, special mention. Brea and Nikki also received ALL SEOAL FIRST TEAM HONORS as well, great job girls on two well deserving honors. You two definitely bond the lady tigers!!! Brea will be GREATLY missed next year and Nikki will just keep on improving for the tigers. Congrats to all the Lady Tigers on Division 3 district champs and take it to Garaway on Wednesday, March 10. Hats off to the student section of Ironton, you have been exactly what these girls need!! GO TIGERS!!!!!!

The District All-Star game will be played at Gallia Academy this year instead of Rio. All the senior girls were forwarded invitations to come play this in this game. Great game, good cause, get to see the Gallia Facilities if you haven't yet.

Re: DISTRICT 13 ALL STARS ANNOUNCED
Congrats to Morgan Grinstead and Whitney Daughtery from Alexander. Everyone on this list has earned their spots on these teams, Alex was not given much hope this year but have fought hard and made it so far. Way to go ladies...lets not forget special mention Kayla Radkin.... I look for great things from the three of these young ladies as well as the rest of the team next year.
Re: DISTRICT 13 ALL STARS ANNOUNCED

Surprised me too.
Did the coach attend the meeting to nominate her? That has happened before with coaches not attending.

Why are some of these young ladies on this list and not on the AP All District Team/Poll? ? ? What and or who picks/votes/decides on who is on this list vice AP List? ? ? ? Is this list the coaches poll also? or is the AP and coaches list the same? ? just alittle confused, can anyone clear this up or was this list premature for the All District Teams? ?
Re: DISTRICT 13 ALL STARS ANNOUNCED
Marcum is on the AP team for div 3. There were some differences between the two teams.
