Who had the best following in Athens?
Who had the best following in Athens?
Over the weekend and you could even include Monday, which school had the biggest crowd for girls and who had the best following for boys?

I was only at the girl's games. It was definitely Waterford's, no contest.

I didn't get to see the DIII and DIV games but at the DII there was a really good crowd for the Logan Elm/Waverly game.

Re: Who had the best following in Athens?
That's because in the SHL there is no football to worry about, just basketball. Besides the exception of Manchester and Fayetteville having football programs. They were recently started a couple years ago so they aren't the "best" yet. So SHL is an all basketball league. All those teams will bring a great crowd. Peebles was the biggest one though and the fact that everyone had red shirts on makes it look even bigger.

Oak Hill girls had the largest crowd by far!

How many people do you think these teams brought? What is the largest crowd for High School ever at the Convo? Never been just curious.

Well Peebles is a small town of about 2000 and almost all were present, those who did not come could not get out of work.

I have to give props to Peebles. Ironton fans were outnumbered at least 4 to 1. Oak Hill also made the Ironton fans look bad. I didn't see every game, but from what I saw Peebles and Oak Hill.

Re: Who had the best following in Athens?
As an outsider: The fan support at the convo for this Peebles team is one of the best I have EVER seen in all my years of going to the Convo (more than 30 years) to District and Regional tournaments. For a DIII now and what used to be a single "A" school, this is fantastic. Some of the other teams around the SEO area should visit your area and see what's in your coffee, soda, milk or whatever because it's definitely refreshing to see this much community support in this day and age.
I posted this on the Peebles team thread because there is no question in my mind this year, it's not even close. On a side note I don't know what's happened to Ironton's following over the years but other than the students it was pretty, let's say lax.

Greenfield v. Chillicothe a couple of years ago had an attendance of just over 9,500
Re: Who had the best following in Athens?
Logan Elm-Greenfield had 10,000 people in 2005. The place was electric.
