Wva won 3 matches, 119 David Jefferys-two time state champ, 145 Jordan Nolan-3time state champ, and Tyler George(either state champ or runner up).
Just like last year Jefferys avoided the best wrestlers in his weight class(last year Reed, and this year Mclaughlin)

Mclaughlin ended up wrestling and beating two time AAA state champ 130lb Kyle Bratke. Jack Hook Bested Chad morrison Four time state placer(2010 champ or runnerup at 152) Both of these NY wrestlers showed a lot of heart against much bigger opponets.

Over all it was a great night, Ohio's team with just two state placers, most of which were wrestling up (a lot) dominated the Wva team with multi-state champs and runner-ups.

So far no word of results is posted on Wva Mat. Last year they were posting before the mats were cleared, with comments like " Southeast Ohio the armpit of Ohio Wrestling"

Kudos to all the wrestlers from Southeast Oh that participated in this event.

I had a call from David Jefferies dad, and was informed that I was mistaken about his son avoiding both Reed and Mclaughlin. In fact, just the opposite was the case, that he had welcomed a match with either one, and that whoever told me this was lying. He also said that Jefferys and Mclaughlin had met two or three times previous and that Jefferys had won these matches. If this is true, I owe apologies all around.

He also said that at weighins, Mclaughlin and Bratke, and Z. Hook and Morrison weighed the same.

I am going to say this no way what a bunch of crap. Mclaughlin and Jefferies have NEVER wrestled a match together ever. only practice. And we did want Mclaughlin to wreslte Jefferies, however Coach Jefferies wanted David Jefferies to wrestle Efaw. And as far as Zach Hook he and Morrison was not even close to the same weight Zach said that kid was quote huge to me. Zach weighed in under 148 Bratke wrestled 152 during season. And Mclaughlin weighed in at 127. If this needs cleared up he can call my cell 740-590-9597 Coach Yinger..... I was with my two sons but spoke with all my guys Saturday night by phone and Zach Hook in person today. He did say he had a lot of fun beating those guys. He said they were cocky and that one kid had a radio on his shoulder dancing until the coach's told him to stop. lol

I thank Coach Jefferies for allowing our boys to be apart of this they loved it and can't wait until next year. This can be a great event and build a solid rivaly which this area needs.

Tric118 that's West Virginia for you though can't accept that they are the little brother that can't live up to the older one which is Ohio. Practically a West Virginia All-State team got spanked by D-3 district qualifiers granted there were some state qualifiers and placers. To be truthful the only impressive kid from West Virginia in my mind wasn't on that team, but hey the score shows who the better state is.

I'll give Parkersburg South credit they could hang with alot of teams in Ohio despite them being from WV. They are that good, but they are certainly an exception for the state. Doesnt suprise at all to hear about the attitude/cockines thats South for you. Go to a dual over there and you will see how passionate they are about wrestling it goes overboard. This score makes me smile.. :12223 ..good job Buckeyes

Thats funny stuff! Coach Shetter try to get him to flip Jefferies to meet with Mclaughlin, he said no. He did come over, after it started and ask if we were ok with the line up. I guess we should have tried again to get the Mclaughlin match, still don't think it would of happen. They have never wrestled in a match, just over at OU!

Why would anybody on this forum feel like they need to bash my brother, David Jeffrey? First off, he is 16 years old. I am guessing you are all adults making negative comments about a kid. Second, your comments have no basis. My brother wrestles the best kids in Ohio and practices at Jeff Jordan's and Eric Burnett's just about every free weekend. With my father's insistance, Dave Jeffrey, they travel long distances to wrestle the best so that David can be his best. So while you want to make accusations about my brother avoiding or running from one of your kids, you know nothing about the truth. I can only assume you would pick on a kid to boost your ego.
So, if you want to talk about some facts you can give ME a call at 304-489-1920 and I can certainly set you straight.
David is not only one of the hardest workers in the practice room, wherever that may be, but also in the classroom. And if you have ever talked to him, which clearly you haven't, you would see that he is also one of the most humble kids you have ever met. He does not boast of his extensive accomplishments or brag about his achievements. An apology is due.

And Jim Packard, I am talking about a real one. Did David talk ill of your son? No? Hhmmm? Why then do you feel the need to put a 16 year old down? Because you have a problem with his dad? If you have a problem with our dad, that is something the two of you could take care but you should NOT bring my brother into it.

PS As soon as I can I will be posting the bracket from the Jeffrey (as it is spelled and pronounced) vs. McLaughlin match.

I'm glad someone from the other side got on here...wow, alot of bashing. Any of you guys ever practice with David, very intense. I know some of the names he practices with around the state of OH and he runs to the competition, not away from it.

There is definitely some bad blood here about something, too bad it isn't for a good cause, like the gate fee and promotional event was.

I'm sure if Coach Yinger stated what he did, he believes it. I'm just not sure he knows the whole story here. Either way, I imagine next year NY will get a shot at South...

I have no dog in this fight, wish I did, but Belpre and Marietta weren't represented at a Washington Cty. event, sad.
