It matters not to me if Athens is in the TVC. But if they were in the SEOAL last year they would have finished mid pack in my opinion. Which is better than they had finished in a while, so it would have been an improvement. They will not dominate the TVC in football. They did not last year, nor will they next year. They may win some football titles, but like last year some will be ties. NY will win more then Athens does, and if this new guy at VC is as good as advertised so will VC. If Wellston gets Phillips they will as well. All IMO of course.

I think Athens beat Gallipolis and could have beat Marietta with all their injuries and that would have been it.

Logan would have passed them to death.
Ironton would have ran over them.
Myers from Portsmouth would have had a field day with Athens
Jackson would have worn them out
Warren would have enjoyed a great game
Chillicothe would have picked up a certain win

In a round-robin I don't think Athens would have lost to the 5 teams above them twice.

Ironton and Chillicothe both beat Athens twice IMHO. They might of split with Warren, Portsmouth, or Jackson, but I developed this make believe list off of what I know. Athens is 3-2 vs the SEOAL this year. They lost to Warren in the sectional final by 2, and to Jackson in the regular season by almost 30 points. They beat the bottom dwellers Gallia twice and Logan once. You could make the case that by the end of the year Athens was playing better ball than Jackson, but they only played once and Jackson won. So I based the list off of facts. Either way I still see them finishing somewhere around 5th or 6th.

Jackson beats Athens thoroughly as do the rest of the top four. The Warren game would be close. Once again though I think Warren was at least a touchdown or two better than Athens. What are you basing your information off of? The best team Athens played all year long was division 5 Nelsonville York, and we all know what the result of that game was.

Im basing my info off of seeing both Jackson and Athens twice last season. Jackson struggled to beat a mediocre Wellston team and was the ONLY team VC had a lead on at halftime last season. I watched Athens manhandle a very good Alexander team and spank VC 42-0. There is no excuse for Jackson being down at the half to VC..none whatsoever.

Jackson played Wellston and Vinton County early with a new coach and system. Athens played them in late season league games. Teams improve throughout the season. That's why I don't like triangle theories. If Gallia played Athens week 10 there might of been a different result. Especially the way Gallia was playing towards the end of the season. The fact remains though that Athens won in week 1. Funny thing is we wouldn't need these what would Athens do vs this team or that team debates if Athens played teams their own size.

VC played Jackson in week 3 and Athens in week 5...so thats not an excuse..I dont base my info off of triangle theories..I base if off of seeing both teams play. But like you said, it doesnt matter. Im not taking up for Athens anymore..they have their own fans and if they dont want to take up for them then thats their problem. I like Athens in the TVC, but imo, it will only work out in the long term if another bigger school is added. I wish that Athens and VC would both join the Seoal...then ALL the big schools around here would be able to show whos best.

if I remember correct--Warren lost a couple game in the league mostly due to turnovers that was very uncommon for them last year. They played mostly error free ball against Logan and it turned out to be a good game.

They would have beaten Athens with no problem

Jackson went 7-3 ,you play 4 quarters not 2 quarters. Jackson would have beat Athens by two scores at least.
