Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
i think this will be ironton's first real test this year.
Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
Hell, I don't have a clue. Last year was the same way, struggled a little at Russel and then we ended up blowing Ashland out. It could be a blowout, or it could be another very close game like 2 years ago, which we ultimately lost.

Ashland struggled @ home vs Gdub, I live in Charleston & have followd the msac conference for years & while it is the premiere football conf in wv, nobody in it wants any parts of Ironton. Tigers easy.

This will, imho, be the Tigers' first real test of the season. Ironton 21 Ashland 14.
Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
YTB - I really don't know the true origin or intent of that phrase, but it always struck me as kind of an ironic, tongue-in-cheek compliment - like calling a huge blizzard "just a little snowfall", or nick-naming a very large person "Tiny" - what is meant is the opposite. Ironically "appearing to belittle or minimize" Ashland actually acknowledges their strength and means they deserve serious respect! You're Tiger Bait wrote:FOR THE RECORD, THOSE WORDS HAVE NEVER CROSSED OLE BAIT'S LIP, IT'S JUST ASHLAND. Really "minimizing" Ashland is purely foolish - that kind of thinking will get you beaten!

Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
this is why they play the game. its real easy to look at it as ironton played russell and it was a close game which ironton won 20-14 holding on to stop russell late in the 4th qtr to pick up the win. when you look at ironton and russell they seem very similar, both big physical, close to the same offense. ashland played russell the following week and handled them pretty handily. it looks like based on that, ashland would be the logical choice to win the game. i thought ashland was favored last year going in to that game and ironton took it too them and couldnt do anything wrong. the one factor that has not changed from last year is the guy that calls the defensive signals on the ironton sideline. thats the difference. i like the tigers in this one maybe not quite as large a margin as last year, but coach lutz solves the ashland attack and ironton gets the win.
