---------------sorry but yes ashland did beat ironton, i watched every play. putting the ball on the ground however many times, as you saw we did it nearly every drive. ashland took advantage and did not. ironton lost-ashland beat us.98jettakeoff wrote:There is a difference between running hard, and trying for extra yardage. I also thought it was 5 (or even 6) but what do I know. Ashland maybe could have beat Ironton even if the Fighting Tigers had played turnover-free; but the score would have been lots closer. You're Tiger Bait wrote:ACTUALLY I COUNTED 5 FUMBLES MAYBE I'M WRONG. and hagar was never down on the return, that being said, it was the close slobber knocker i predicted, the trouble is ashland had a very solid ball team, and took advantage of the mistakes , and handed it to the fighting tigers.tha's how bait saw it. sure there were some call's and they held us all night. we just refuse to cover the ball up in traffic. and the same will continue, until backs are taught prroperly how to put the ball away. and get it in their outside arm.and use stiffarms. like they say in the barber shop--------next. beat by a better team ronight.
Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
It was the hard hitting from the Tomcats that knocked the ball out on them fumbles, of course no credit will be shown for that either , and I read where Ironton fired off a cannon at their last game, but if someone else does it you complain? :12224.

Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
Ashland has a strong group of athletes that have come through their system. Their quarterback is exceptional. Their team was primed to play Ironton. That being said, Ironton was able to consistently move the ball on Ashland until the score tipped much in Ashland's favor (keyed by
Ironton fumbles), and Ironton went to more of a pass mode. Take care of the ball, and despite the understood capabilities of the Ashland
team, I still think you have a different game.

I think this was a good reality check for the tigers. Stop talking bout playing for a state championship in week 3 and worry bout one game at a time. Stop twittering and facebooking enough trash talk to fill a newspaper and just go out there take care of business. This team can be good, but fundamentals must improve. You can't hold the ball 3 ft from your body like your Jim Brown and not expect to have it poked or stripped away. Have fun at practice Monday tigers cause you know what's coming. The tigers hold onto the ball this game is completely different. Hope they learned there lesson or it will be a short postseason.

Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
ashland had a great game plan, i knew from the first drive this ironton ashland game was gonna be a dandy, you could smell it in the air. good ole fashioned slobber knocker. ashland had nearly 90 kids out, ironton's number are up. both teams consistently moved the ball up and down the field, both had numerous scoring opps. we just refuse to wrap the ball up. and the schedule certainly does not get any easier.d-coordinators must be licking their chops over , getting the ball loose from tiger backs. i said it going into this week, and it's a problem that needs immediate attention.
i watched coach lutz alot last night, i thought he called a great game , good play selection, good defenses, but everytime we ran it down the field, we fumbled the ball. you could just see the frustration in him. but in true fashion i watched him sigh heavily, then start giving defensive signals , because they were now on defense. what can you do. he ain't running the ball. thats ironton football, we'll play anybody. if they beat you shake hands and go at it next week. the jibberish you hear between is from folks like us, who are just fans, that have no bearing on the game , or it's outcome. you do not hear this from the players and coaching staff, i know this for sure.

no it was not hard hits they were simply coughing the ball up i have never seen ironton do such a poor job holding on to the ball take away the turnovers and ironton drives for scores all night long and keeps ashland offense on the sidelinestomcat wrote:It was the hard hitting from the Tomcats that knocked the ball out on them fumbles, of course no credit will be shown for that either , and I read where Ironton fired off a cannon at their last game, but if someone else does it you complain? :12224.

Re: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs Ashland Tomcats
This game will only do us good, we got to see what a spread Offense with good running backs can do. Ashland is about as well balanced of an Offense you'll see. We faced probably the best QB we will see in the regular season in Sam Hunter, the kid has talent. We didn't get pressure on him like we did last year and he was able to take advantage of that. Ashland just has good talent all the way around. Good luck to them the rest of the season and in the playoffs.
Time for the Tigers to refocus and forget about this game, a tough schedule awaits us.

I understand why folks involved would want to have it done.

You're not as good as last year. Not on defense. Not on the lines. Not at quarterback. Not even close. You're Tiger Bait wrote:AND AS FAR AS SAYING WE COULD HAVE A STATE TEAM, WE COULD. WE DANG NEAR DONE IT LAST YEAR.

I disagree. Little better at qb. Defense returned 6- 7 starters. Hard to say there not better. I might agree with you on the o- line though.AHM wrote:You're not as good as last year. Not on defense.
