I enjoyed the ride while it lasted, but next Friday I'll have to go back to my regular life. But, for just a while I was.....SUPER WARRIOR FAN!!!! LOL

P.S. If you think about it, we are champs of the SCOL and the TVC.

Your comment is why I was happy to see Logan Elm win this one. Your last comment speaks volume of your class. Good Luck to Logan Elm the rest of the way.

WOW!!!!!! what a game played by two very talented teams, it is almost as if both teams should advance to the next level. fans on both sides of the court were very loud and proud and rightfully should, cheering those kids who left nothing but it all on the court. Hats off to every player on both teams, you kids have alot to be proud of. I definately know now why Adam Blake won POY, he was outstanding tonight. Congrats to Logan Elm, can't wait till Thursday, KEEP BRINGING IT!!!!, and to Warren we will definately see you guys again next year you will be back at the Convo for sure. :-D

I'll begin my thoughts on the game by starting with Warren. You did one hell of a job tonight but just fell short. You were every bit of the team that your fans said you would be and then some. Best of luck to those returning players next year as you to build onto your sucesses this season. Also would like to wish the Warren seniors luck into whatever endevors they will pursue after high school.

Congrats on a fine season.

I would also like to commend the Warrior faithful on the support they gave their team tonight and the class they shown in defeat.

And now to the back to back District Champions! You can't imagine how proud I am of your accomplishments thus far this year. You had plenty of chances to fold, but kept on fighting and now look at what it got you! Another round in the tournament and a trip to regionals.

I would also like to add that unless I'm mistaken, this is the first class of seniors to win the league AND the district back to back years. Phenominal.

Adam Blake is the SED POTY for a reason. He was able to pull his team away from elimination against a tough opponent.

I have a headache and am going on 3 hrs of sleep, so I'll post more on here tomorrow.

Congrates to the Braves. ....... Warrior Nation should be proud of our boys and coaches who represented their school with the upmost class.... Probably Blaine Maddox's best coaching job in the ten years he has been a WARRIOR!!!! It's been a pleasure to follow this team and especially our Seniors.

... now THAT was a basketball game !!! Logan Elm vs Warren for the Division II Southeast District Title ... 2 of the best coaches in Southern Ohio in Coach Maddox of Warren Local and Coach Stiverson of Logan Elm - both showed why they get it done on the court with key decisions at key times throughout the ball game tonight ... 2 outstanding TEAMs in the Warriors and the Braves - I believe the largest lead by either team in this one was 4 points ... 2 fantastic schools who supported their teams all season, and 2 fan bases that are second to none ... it all added up to a game that showcased what high school basketball Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line is all about ... Logan Elm 55 Warren Local 54 a final ...

... what a strange game in many aspects - Warren Local seemed to be in control and in the lead in this one EVEN WHEN THEY WEREN'T - they played that solid of a floor game at both ends of the floor ... on the other side of half court Logan Elm never seemed to be in command of this one, never quite getting over the top to take control offensively, never quite getting THE stop to push a lead to more than one possession throughout ... YET when you look at the quarter breaks Logan Elm WAS in control where it counted "on the scoreboard" - Logan Elm 13 Warren 12 after one ... Logan Elm 23 Warren 19 at intermission ... Logan Elm 36 Warren 34 end of three ... Logan Elm 55 Warren 54 a final ...

... Warren defensively had "on the ball" pressure all night - forcing Logan Elm perimeter people to turn over the ball an uncharacteristic 17 times for the game ... LE for the second game in a row had difficulty getting the outside shots to fall in the first half and into a good chunk of the 3rd before Cory Whaley found the range from deep for 3 treys to KEEP LE in the game and Warren at bay going into the 4th ... on the Warren side of the court - as I said the Warriors of Coach Maddox controlled this one or at least played a strong enough floor game at both ends to have a chance to pull the upset as time wound down in the 4th period - the usual suspect perimeter game for WHS remained suspect as Warren was 2/6 from behind the arc ... when you look at the Napkin Stats for the Warriors they got the shots they wanted, got into the paint, led by Grant Venham, Brandon Fivecoait, Clay Ellenwood - all three were getting the ball in scoring position in the box ... Warren hit 12 of 18 field goals from the "block in" with Ellenwood and Venham hitting the WHS "long range" shots of 12-15 foot jumpers ... Logan Elm although struggling from the field from long range DID hit enough treys in the first 3 quarters (4/13) to offset a few of the possessions that ended in TOs ...

... all year teams look to figure out who their "go to" guys are, who wants the ball at crunch time - in tonights game there was no doubt who THE GO TO guys were/are/will be in this one ... Adam Blake for Logan Elm the Division II SE District Player of the Year showed why he is "the man" for LE - 14 points in the 4th period, 3 triples, a regular & 1 ... when Warren's own "go to " guy junior Austin Cunningham (7 points in the 4th) would put WHS up by a bucket , or sophomore future "go to guy" Jeremy Hastie (7 points in the 4th quarter) put Warren in the lead Adam Blake had THE answer ... with all of the Adam Blake heroics to give LE a one point lead with under 10 seconds to go... Warren had the Braves right where they wanted them - only leading by one, WHS in possession, the "go to " guy in Austin Cunningham with the ball in his hands at crunch time, AC working his magic to get free for a floater on the left block - can't ask for more than that ... Logan Elm 55 Warren Local 54 a final ...

Pfloyd Napkin Stats - Warren Local

Scoring ... Austin Cunningham 16, Brandon Fivecoait 13, Clay Ellenwood 10, Grant Venham 8, Jeremy Hastie 7

3 pointers ... 2/6 ... Cunningham/Hastie each with 1 a piece both in the 4th quarter ...

FTs ... 16/23 ... THE KEY napkin stat 10/16 in the 4th quarter ...

TOs ... 12

... Congratulations to the Warren TEAM - great season (19-5) ... outstanding game plan, and execution on the court ... the W was there for the taking ... looking forward to seeing the 2010-11 edition of the Blue ...

Pfloyd Napkin Stats - Logan Elm

Scoring ... Adam Blake 23, Cory Whaley 14, Tyler Pritchard 8, Jake Thompson 6, Logan Hauserman 4 ...

3 Pointers ... 8/17 ... LE with 4 in the final quarter of action ... Adam Blake 4, Cory Whaley 4 ...

FTs ... 3/6

TO's ... 17 ... 17 possessions without getting off a shot ...

... Great TEAMS find a way to win ... LE IS one of those TEAMS ... lots of talk about this years version of the Braves NOT being as good as last years ball club - lets see , the Braves have gotten BACK to the Regionals after losing 40+ points from the offensive side , how? defense AND every person on the floor making themselves an offensive threat - a contributor that has to be accounted for by their opponents AND then you have a "given" floor leader in Adam Blake ... you have to have that one PLAYER who is willing to be "THE GUY" ... I don't think that there was any doubt coming into this season who THE GUY was going to be on this Logan Elm TEAM ... Congratulations to Coach Stiverson, the Logan Elm TEAM on their back to back District Championships ... "survive and advance" that's what it is all about ... the Pfloyd Tour will be in the Cheap Seats as you continue on your way down the tournament trail ...

Excellent work pfloyd! I also thought the free throw shooting was key in hurting Warren. Between 2:00 and 1:30 left they went to the foul line 4 times when they had the lead, and not one of those four times did they make two! Making just one won't do it as LE is likely to get 3 back on their end. Whaley and Blake hit many key shots in the 2nd half, Whaley in both qtrs and Blake just in the 4th, what a qtr he had! Four 3 point plays(3 treys), and I think each either tied it or put LE back in the lead, and then the final deuce to go up one with 9 sec left. Hastie had a big 4 point play to give Warren their first lead of more than one point. I think LE's biggest lead was 26-21 and Warren's just 3, just once at 50-47( first team to 50 couldn't hold on!), which was immediately erased with a LE trey.

I also thought a big factor was how LE won the end of each qtr. In the first they ran the clock down and Blake got loose for a trey at the buzzer to take the lead away from Warren. In the 2nd, Warren tried to run the clock down, lost the ball and LE scored on a fast break, then they had the ball back with ~15 sec left and they got hung up and had to throw up a bad shot at the buzzer. Then LE scored at the end of the 3rd with I think it was a Hauserman put-back, and then of course the end of the 4th went to LE. The final Cunningham game winning shot effort was very similar to the one he made at the buzzer vs. Athens. The differnce was that was for a sectional title and if he missed it was OT. This one was for a district title and missing it meant losing!

I thought the LE defense did an excellent job defending, especially in the 1st half, the Warren efforts to get the ball in the middle then trying to hit a cutter slanting in from the side. Several times they just didn't get any daylight resulting in a steal or and deflection out of bounds. They didn't get hurt by those quick passes inside for easy buckets like WCH did a few times. I was disappointed in Warren squandering the several fouls they had to give late in the game and having six when Blake started his drive for the game winner with about 15 sec left. With six if they fouled he'd probably make two on the one and bonus, but with five, LE just would have had to bring the ball in bounds again. Even so if they would have used their 6th foul with 12 sec left that would have probably left them plenty of time to get the game winner and there wouldn't have been 9 sec left for Cunningham to get just the shot Warren wanted to win the game.

This game was a pleasure to watch between a pair of good basketball teams. LE wins back to back district titles, first time since 1962 and 1963. Blake had one of the best performances in the clutch I've seen. Good games from Whaley and Thomas also.

Warren is a fine ballclub with a great future. Tough team that plays good defense. Very scrappy.

Now on to regionals and a very tough DeSales team.

No I'd say around 5 to 6 thousands. I attend a lot of Ohio games and I know what 3 thousand looks like since Ohio normally gets that many for their games. I'd say with all the games today the crowd will be at least that large or bigger by the end of the first games.

There was 5 to 6 thousand period. You know that no one on this sight likes you. I've talked to several people and all you do is start trouble and I'm not giving you a chance. Stop by and by some gas, no wait your full of it. :-) :-). You don't even attend the games.

What a great game! Every player out on the floor played their hearts out! AC just keep playing. your gonna miss some shots and make some. Brandon and Clay, awseome games by you two. Mr. Hastie good outside shooting. The four point play was something you can do. Grant, great game, it was tough one for you. I'd also like to say great job by the bench. You guys make everything possible by making everyone better at practice.

Now its the off season. Get in the weight room, keep shooting, and get ready for next year. :122245

After sitting back and thinking of all the good things that happened this year with the WARREN WARRIOR basketball team, I just wanted to THANK all of WARRIOR NATION for their support all season long and especially @ the CONVO last Friday nite against Logan Elm. There was a Sea of Blue and the Student Section was awesome. Can't wait till next year!!
