Are those listed in order? If so, I don't see how anyone could list Athens and Adena ahead of Ironton, Sheridan, and Jackson.
No disrespect intended.

I also agree. After the first three weeks with the games these three teames have had, they should be ranked higher than Athens and Adena.A-Town Big Dog wrote:I agree with you totally 78.GalliaGrad78 wrote:Are those listed in order? It's still difficult to know how good most teams are and Kevin is trying to award the highest rankings for what has been done this year. Fair enough.....if you don't like his way I understand....but in the end it will work itself out.
Mine:
1. Ironton....to me this is not even up for discussion. They were excellent last year but didn't go as far as they should have in the playoffs...they are back, bitter, better and focused.
2. Jackson....bias? Yes, but they have been very focused in winning by a combined 119-0, they can win by the run or by the pass. Defense is excellent and special teams are very good. 12 straight regular season wins.
3. Sheridan.....every year they are an excellent team with a couple of studs. We may not know much about them.....but there is a reason they make the playoffs every year.
4. Logan Elm.....have built a great program and are in the playoffs yearly now....undefeated and well coached.
5. Athens.....good wins early and a great opportunity for an extended season. Stud tailback and stud LB.....would love an Athens/Jackson week 11 matchup. As we learn how good Warren and Gallia Academy are we can learn more about how good Athens is...right now they look awfully good!
6. Portsmouth West....smaller division, but West can play with the big boys and they do it each year.
7. New Lexington.....these schools (Logan Elm, Sheridan and New Lex) are not familiar with most of us.....but their competition is worthy and they are getting it done.
8. Adena.....beat East Clinton and larger Washington CH....we'll keep an eye on this D5 team.
9. Valley.....big matchup with Chesapeake could move them up a couple spots
10. Chesapeake.....see above, so far so good
11. Nelsonville.....this team has been very good virtually every year I've followed high school football.
12. Alexander....this is a program that is rising fast....they may do more than make the playoffs this year.

I'm not saying Warren Local should be in the top 5 even though most had them there before playing Athens. But after a 5 point loss that could have gone either way they drop off completely? Hmmmmm

Re: top 12 teams in south east ohio after week 3 what are yo
i am saying that through 3 weeks wins over gallia academy, coal grove and warren
and wins over mcclain, east clinton and washington.
is more impressive then wins over
wheelersburg, russell and chillicothie and
wellston, waverly and vinton county
lakewood, west muskingham and morgan.
and when i look at things i do rely to much on margin of victory in a blow out. in games that are 2 touchdowns or less i think tells me something. over 2 touchdowns most of time your someone else beating a bad team.
and if i would of listed 13 teams i wold of still had warren in.

I would have to disagree with new lex and sheridan they play in a very weak mvl and sheridan gets all pumped up every yr and collapses like a house of cards in wk 11 or 12
Re: top 12 teams in south east ohio after week 3 what are yo
The MVL is just as strong as any other league in SE Ohio with football. Tri-Valley and Sheridan are usually pretty good every year. New Lex is good a lot of years. Then they usually have a fourth school be competitive in different years. Yes, the bottom isn't very good but neither is the bottom of most leagues. Name me a school in SE Ohio which could beat Upper Arlington? Tri-Valley did this season.

"Collapses in week 11 or 12"....um that means they collapse in the district finals or regional semis every year....which I think, I think that would make them one of the top teams in the district....which is what we are ranking.
Thanks for proving my point.

New Lex is decent this year but not sure they are top ten on your list, feel like Nelsonville is better then the panthers. Sheridan is a different animal, they are a powerhouse program who has beaten teams like Canfield/Stuebenville/Louisville/Licking Valley/DeSales/Dover and many others. Culver has been there 31 years and has somewhere around 20+ playoff appearances including a state runner up, believe they won an AP title three years ago and were second in the final AP poll last year before being upset in overtime by a very good dover team. This years version isn't as good as last but have outstanding skill kids and a young/developing line. If the line continues to improve they will look at a minimum of 9 wins and another playoff berth. Also, the Upper Arlington team that Tri-Valley beat week one has since drubbed D1 Springfield in the Herbstriet classic in the horseshoe and beat a Gahanna Lincoln team by 11 points that had worked over DeSales and Strongsville. If Sheridan is able to beat the scotties week 9 (not convinced they can) then we will know if they are for real.

It may have been a scrimmage but NY beat up New lex earlier in the year.
Also you guys have Athens and Alex ranked too high.
Athens should be around #7 or #8
Alex will be unrated as soon as they play anyone that actually has a varsity football team.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------I SEE THIS AS PRETTY ACCURATE AT THIS POINT IN THE SEASON RIGHT NOW. IRONTON'S SCHEDULE IS NOTHING BUT BULLIES FROM THIS POINT OUT, SMASHMOUTH FOOTBALL, WHO SURVIVES IT, WE'LL SEE. I THINK THIS YEARS IRONTON/JACKSON GAME WILL BE A SELLOUT, AND A COMPLETE BATTLE OF WILLS. I THINK SOME OF THE TEAMS HERE ARE PROFITING BY WEAKER SCHEDULES AND LEAGUES AND WILL THIN OUT LATER.AND WE STILL HAVE THE LIKES LEFT OF ASHLAND, JACKSON, JONATHON ALDER,GALLIPOLIS, BISHOP HARTLEY, SIMON KENTON, PORTSMOUTH, SO THE CREAM WILL COME TO THE TOP, WHOMEVER IT WILL BE.SouthernStorm wrote:1. now dat's a schedule any team, 2 players from d5 , can be very proud of.very strong schedule for a d4 team..
