Re: Wheelersburg 2010-2011
i think burg will be fine imo due to the fact they have god young talent and they will have some experience out there as well
Re: Wheelersburg 2010-2011
If you look around the SOCII, Oak Hill, Northwest, Valley, SW, Minford are all losing some of their top players to graduation. I think the SOCII will be wide open next year and Burg should be back near the top of the conference again. Anyone else hear the rumor that a player (6'4") is moving into the district from western Ohio??
Re: Wheelersburg 2010-2011
As far as I know, all the rumors that I have heard have proved false so far. While Andrew Bendolph's family moved back to Portsmouth, the rest is not worth wasting time believing.
If things do change from this point, Wheelersburg will be fine regardless. That is their strength.
Oh and it was TWO players who did not make the basketball banquet besides Bendolph but that is not unusual. I am not sure why that is important. It was a Sunday afternoon and they may have had other committments. Both are busy and doing well in their chosen spring sports!

Re: Wheelersburg 2010-2011
This year burg had some trouble with kids not coming out. And now Bendolph leaves.. But look what happened this year Burg record wise wasnt the greatest but somehow Barrick found a way to get those boys to the district finals. We return a lot of people next year and we will have great guards. Not to mention with the experience of going to a district championship these boys will be ready come next year..look for the Burg to be fast as lighting on the court as well..

Who do you think will be the starting 5? And will Burg have a deep bench? Need that in tough games..

Probably, in times like these, people have to go where the work is. Virginia could be getting some good people!

I think the starting 5 will be:
Stegman
Ward
Ballard
Schank
McBee
Coming off the bench:
Sloan
Massie
Moore
Graf
Mohebbian
Cowgill
Don't be surprised to see the 2 freshmen Miller boys to be seeing some varsity time by mid year either....
(edited...forgot Sloan)

The starting five is pretty good but the bench is very young and does not have the talent that Burg usually has had. Shank and McBee will be a very good set of guards, and Stegman is very good.

Re: Wheelersburg 2010-2011
I heard from a returning player that Barrick has the 10-11 team in a lot more camps than usual this year. Generally they attend Ohio U and Bluffton U. I know they are going back to Cincy this year which is a great camp with many AAU teams there that are great competition. Also, they mentioned Morehead and another place but I can't remember. I like the sound of all the guys in the gym this summer! I am really hoping Stegman and his AAU play this summer will step up his game a lot.

The only one I know of is Stegman, and he will be playing in Orlando soon! Not sure what Mcbee is doing....or Ballard.
