I am going to hit the wood hard starting next Monday. I am taking all of next week off. I agree that we need some rain. The only rain in the 10 day forecast is for Friday and it is 60% according to weatherchannel.com. I think there are a few things in our favor though.......1. We had an exceptionally snowy winter which oversaturated the ground 2. With the exception of a week there, our temps have been pretty mild 60s-low 70s. So the ground shouldn't be "scorched"............yet.

On another note.......it sounds like caglewis has some psychosocial issues in regards to the posting. The only analogy I can put to it is a group of people talking about the weather and another person coming along, jumping into the group, and screaming "I LIKE TATER TOTS!!!" The response made no sense to the initial subject.

The question was
Anyone finding any mushrooms yet?

And I said "NO - and I'm not even looking because I don't like them."
Granted, and you're right - I should not have responded at all on this thread, because I seriously don't care about, don't include, don't want, and dislike mushrooms in all varieties in my food!
OK, fine, got the message! - Good hunting and good eating to you mushroom lovers!

No, you said...

I could easily live my life without them - they're NEVER on my menu or in my recipes.

Completely different context and answer.
If you don't like them, then sell them, there is good money in it.

Haven't hunted them in years, but the thread title made my mouth water . Love them dipped in flour and sauted in butter. D@mnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, good eating.

Used to eat platters of them in past years. The Hocking Hills were full of them.

Going out today for my first official "hunt" of the year. I have did some drive by mushroom hunts a couple of times this year, stopping and looking under interesting trees, but no luck yet.

Which ones were you looking for, the Maitakes, the Turkey tails or the Shiitakes?

A former employee of Sam's told me you can purchase any of these when they are in season.......Maitakes, Shiitakes and Turkey tails. That would be the Sam's in Burlington.
