I can not believe that a PREPS poster actually used the word "narcissists."
Cosell must have a dictionary and a thesaurus handy.

Yes Howard Southern was 5-5 and Trimble was 6-4 so that sure is a good point you made.

Yes Athens did the cut and run, and now that they have had one good season everyone thinks they are great and think they will win the TVC every year. Well they wont, and they need to quit playing Westvirgina Div 6 teams and start playing teams their size again. Play Logan why don't you. It's just up the road and I am sure would be a big gate now with the Logan people chompin at the bit to get a shot at the Bullpups again.

Sounds to me that the people complaining are the ones who have to play Athens or who played them and lost. No Athens won't dominate the TVC, but they did last year get over it they are not going anywhere. So that means get your schools ready and prove Athens wrong. Get in the weight room, get some skill players and get it going. Cause Athens will be ready. And thats Bulldogs just in case some of you forgot. Bulldogs are full grown and ready to play.....lol

Since you obviously missed last season I will inform you that Athens did not dominate the TVC last season. They lost to D5 NY. We played them before they were in the TVC so it doesnt matter to me that they are in. We beat them just as often as they beat us.

Hard hitter you obviously didn't watch the same games I did, look at the scores besides NY and tell me who came close. And I do believe that we beat you up pretty bad this year.

Re: Does the "Cut and Run" philosophy work all the time?
To dominate a league you have to win every game and you didn't. Yea you beat us last year, but we beat you the previous 5 years. So I wouldn't get to arrogant. Wait, too late for that. Ahtens will do better in the TVC than they did in the SEOAL because they will usually win at least one game in the TVC. They rarely won one in the SEOAL. But Athens will never dominate the TVC Ohio. They have never dominated all those teams and they never will. But if it makes you feel better keep saying you did last year, even though you lost to a league team.

Hard hitter, that is the point. If we didn't dominate previously and you say we won't in the future the why all the comotion cause they're in the TVC if they won't dominate then let it go, cause it shouldn't matter. But it seems deep down that you might think they might. So with that said just smile take it in stride and be happy.

I never once said anything negative about them being in. The only ones that are mad about that are the SEOAL people. They are the ones saying it was a mistake to let them in, and they will dominate. Then you Athens people eat that up and start talking about how fast you are, and strong your line is etc... Bottom line, you were fast and strong last year to the extent you could match up well with a bunch of d4 and d5 teams. That is what kind of talent you had. You people get on here and say that you should be considered d4 or d5. Well I agree your talent should be, and deep down you do to, but the problem is you are d2. In the league we could care less who is in or who is out or who dominates, cause we hardly ever win it anyway. But the good thing about Athens being in is when we beat them 5 out of 6 years at least now they will have some wins to give us playoff points since they are playing d4, d5 and d6 teams. Matter of fact in 08 their 4 wins helped put us in the playoffs for the first time ever. So yea, I am glad they are in the TVC now.

Re: Does the "Cut and Run" philosophy work all the time?
Here we go again. Someone says something about Athens and they are lebelled an Athens hater. I was going to warn you HH, but figured it best to just let you learn on your own. Why don't you call people Trimble haters on this thread? Or Southern haters? Those schools were talked about negatively. No, your focus is on Athens. Just like the Athens people that complain cause they think every thread is about them. Then when someone responds they get upset and call them haters. The cycle continues.

Ok, i See where this is going. The thing I was trying to point out was that the talent at Athens was there no matter what DIV. I honestly think that they would have competed very hard In the SEAOL, would they have won it that remains to be seen. They would have been verry good. Now as far as the level of talent. I can name fifteen kids on that past sqaud that can go to any school and be very effective on the DIV 1 level. I myself am not from Athens, I moved here from up north to play at O.U. I have seen talent from almost everywhere. The hater thing I said I may have taken that part to far but I guess the only thing to do is to watch those kids get out there and play and let the cards fall where they may.

If Athens had 15 players with D1 talent they better start looking for a new coach. The teams they played combined have probably zero players with that kind of talent. They should have never lost to a d5 high school team, and should have named the score against all the other teams, especially single A Wahama, if what you say is true.

So what you are saying is tha there is no talent that could be D1 talent in D3,4 or 5. Some of these kids can't helpthe area they grew up in and are therefore relgated to go to the school in there area. And not every parent can afford t o just up and move or send there kid to a better private school. Like I stated before I have been around the best talent and I know for a fact that a lot of the kids in the area if afforded the opportunity would do great at different schools that are considered of higher. But you take away from it what you want if it makes you feel better.

Re: Does the "Cut and Run" philosophy work all the time?

I think what he was saying is that Athens in no way had 15 DI talent kids on this past years' roster and moreover that the teams they played didn't have enough (if any) DI players to contain 15 DI level players had they all been on the team at Athens last year. ALL divisions have DI talent and kids can't help where they grow up but the above statement was not a general statement but rather a direct statement toward AHS and their competition last year.
I'll agree that local kids don't have the opportunity and if given the chance, would do well at that level but recruiters don't want to drive forever to watch one kid when they can drive a short distance and watch several prospects at once. They (the schools) lose and the local kids lose.
15 is a really high number!!!! As far as the SEOAL thing goes, .500 at best. Portsmouth, Ironton, Logan would have beaten Athens. Jackson would have probably beaten them and Warren would have been a toss-up as well. So .500 which is a huge improvement but also have to consider the game after a beatdown like the one taken from Ironton and Logan.

You have a good mind JC. Your take on my post is accurate. I also agree with your points.

With that kind of talent you would think Athens could have handled little old Nelsonville York. Better yet with that kind of talent they shouldn't have needed to pad their smoke and mirrors record last year against a bunch of small schools.

Re: Does the "Cut and Run" philosophy work all the time?
You would think that if there were 15 D-I athletes at Athens High School Ohio University would have grabbed them all up. Yea, I was around a high school team in Southern Ohio that had two that went to Ohio State and one too ND-they averaged over 60 points a game. Fifteen on one high school team-heck that might be the #1 team in the nation? I remember when Ironton had I think 4-they went to back to back state finals in 92 and 93.
If they are that good people will find them-heck the scouts found Josh Cordell at Hannan WV!

Re: Does the "Cut and Run" philosophy work all the time?
Everyone who responded to the post I put up had very valid points. 15 D1 talent was there, IMO those playes weren't put in the right positions to show case there talent. As far as the smoke and mirrors thing, you take a look at the average that they beat those teams. All except Nelsonville was blow outs. The nelsonville game was not lost by those kids it was lost by there coach. Not to take anything away from nelsonville at all. Here is the point I'm trying to make, there is a lot of talent in these areas. Athens has a lot of it, but don't knock them because they move to a different league. There were several reasons for leaving and winning games wasn't the only thing. I have much respect for all these schools around here, seeing that I am not from here. I just think these kids don't get a fair shake at the talent they have, not from recruiters and sometimes from us as fans.
