As far as the smoke and mirrors thing, you take a look at the average that they beat those teams. All except Nelsonville was blow outs. The nelsonville game was not lost by those kids it was lost by there coach. Not to take anything away from nelsonville at all. Here is the point I'm trying to make, there is a lot of talent in these areas. Athens has a lot of it, but don't knock them because they move to a different league. There were several reasons for leaving and winning games wasn't the only thing. I have much respect for all these schools around here, seeing that I am not from here. I just think these kids don't get a fair shake at the talent they have, not from recruiters and sometimes from us as fans.
Problem is, some people get on here and say because of their situation they should be compared to a D4 or D5 team. But they also want to say that they have great talent and a great coach. They were a pretty good team last year. But great? I don't know about that. D1 talent? I guess we will just have to wait and see about that. But no way they have 15 D1 kids. No way.
The teams they beat last year were 31-58 overall. They should have blown those teams out. Alexander was the one blowout they had against a quality team. I saw the Wahama game, and it was no blowout. They beat two teams with winning records, one a D4 and the other a D6. Yes they had a great year. But some people on here try to make them out to be something they are not.
Again I say if they had as much talent as you say, then the coaches need to do some self examinations IMO.
