boiler,

Can you provide any info about Wellston's offensive scheme for this season, or is that top-secret information? :)

I see the same ole' story unfolding here again, the Wellston fans come on here and talk a big game then the Jackson kids will go out and play a big game. Jackson will roll again as usual. The Logan fans will chime in with their arguement that the game shouldn't be played, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Hey A-town , how about talking your AD into scheduling Jackson ? I can answer that for you they dont want to play Jackson . Much rather feed on small schools where they have a chance to win by a touchdown or get blown out by a school their own size.

Hey 02 , I think everyone knows what this coaching staff at Wellston wants to do . Physical football.

Boiler I mean no disrespect for the kids or staff at Wellston but when are you gonna realize that Jackson has done many of the same things as Athens and that you are the smaller school being fed on? Wellston has a reputation in the area as a hard nosed team ready to play every week. I suspect nothing will change in that reguard despite the last couple of years. This is a discussion board about Jackson/Wellston and I am only stating my opinion that things this year won't change. I appreciate your grit and support for your school and would like to see the game be a good one this year either way.

Athens has 363 boys compared to Jackson's 301 if i'm not mistaken. At least Wellston steps up to the plate and gives it there all. Guess our neighbors aren't hungry enough to travel another ten minutes Boilermaker haha

Wellston is working hard, these kids are buying into coach Hutch and his staff. They are in great shape. Im sure Jackson and most teams are working hard as well. The attidude among the team is so much better than in recent years .We actually have kids stepping up to be leaders , no arguing its been competitive. It is just a completely new atmosphere. Plus the fact that this junior class is very talented and a good group of seniors. I will warn all who play this years version of the Rockets , you better strap your chinstraps tight !

I don't like the idea of Wellston not running any 7on7s. The fact that they are going to be run-based and don't need the reps is not an excuse. With all of the formations that Jackson could throw at them week 1 you would think that they would want to have a 7on7 or two to get a real time look for their secondary and linebackers to line up correctly and cover receivers out of different sets. Two scrimmages, one against a primarily wing-T team, won't give them the reps to make defensive adjustments they need to be ready for the multiple looks of Jackson. Too bad, with Prater at QB running the spread option, they may have the offensive firepower to run with the Ironmen, just dependent on stopping the Ironmen to get their first win since the 80s

Copay, The only reason for not having a 7on7 is to get the new system (offense and Defense) in place. The scrimmage against Zane trace will give the Rockets some looks in the passing game. The coaches are working these kids very hard ,and the boys love it.They go just as hard at the end of practice as they started it.This will be a good year for this Rocket squad,a good mix of all classes.

The streak end 8/28/10!

I see Jackson winning big in this game. Wellston is way outmatched in this one. People are talking how Wellston has the advantage in the skilled positions and I do not see where this is true. Who are the skilled kids Wellston has? Prater has potential to be good, but has proved nothing yet. Jackson's Ervin and Arthur are 2 nice running backs and then you throw another good player like Kip Winchester at QB, I say Jackson has a major advantage in this category. Jackson has even a bigger advantage in the trenches. Possible score of 50-6.
