have had limited 1st hand experience at watching East play but when I did I was very very impressed at the way he handled himself. I wish him the best in a tough place to drum up hoops support. Man could he ever lite it up when he was still playing. fine fine player in his day. MD

Excellent coaching staff with Bradford and Parkes. They'll get it turned around.

Went and watched the league play at Valley Tuesday and I thought West looked pretty good, still missing some of our upper classman though; which is normal for this time of year. I heard Frye was released to play from an injury in AAU ball, so that wiil probably help. From what I'm seeing we should have a pretty good bench this year.

I look for Coach Bradford and west basketball to take a step forward with the program as he continues to build with his young team. With the strong jr. high class that will be on there way in the future, it is going to be interesting to see the direction this program takes. Lets go Senators!

I agree with Runner00, including the "recruit" from Clay should help them to win the S.O.C. for years to come.

Jake Lane, curious why do you call the kid from Clay a "recruit"? Who recruited him? Just wondering.

Re: Sider Basketball 2010-2011
I don't think the kid from Clay was recruited, but I still don't know why he left to go to West. He has some potential to be a good player and West is definately not a basketball school. Maybe he has some thoughts on playing football.
I have heard some rumours that Coach Bradford is not working with kids who play other sports and have conflicts of schedules with college combines or scout camps in their main sport that interfere with basketball practices. I hate to see a coach force a kid to give up one sport to play another. Smaller schools need to realize that the coaches have to work with each other to let kids play sports in all three seasons (fall, winter, spring).

Is this the young man that has been to Notre Dame. Minford and Clay in the last three years pursuing his basketball career?
Re: Sider Basketball 2010-2011
They have a good core of young returning talent with Ratliff, Freye (sp?), the Boltons and others. West will have a very competitive team soon.

Yeah "Siderman" according to the football program at Fairland Frye is 6'3" 190 lbs. And growing from what I heard with Travis and the Boltons we should be a little Deeper on the Bench this year. Andy Sparks is playing this year too, very physical kid. I think we'll win a few.

I saw him dunk in street clothes as an 8th grader, but I still wonder if he came to West to play football.TimeToShine wrote:siderman wrote:what is that kids name and what grade is he in?

Re: Sider Basketball 2010-2011
That leaves me puzzled then as to why he would leave Clay and go to the West Side to play basketball. As I understand he parenets still live in Clay district. Nothing against West but if a kid is looking to establish residency for a sport as a freshman I don't think West is known as a basketball school and he appears to be a possible impact player.
