Not happening, BUT the Mid State League HAS invited both Logan and Chillicothe to join the MSL ... imo a move to the MSL would be a GREAT move for the Purple ... We will watch how this scenario unfolds in the coming weeks ...

That is interesting to hear. Are there any actual articles/verifiable sources out there regarding this invitation? I am not questioning your word, just want to read into it more. While I am familiar with the league and some of its teams, I am not familiar with the division of the league with it being 24 teams. Are there 3 divisions? If so, what teams belong to what divisions? The following is a breakdown of some 2009 statistics comparing the 2 leagues (based on football).

MSL
Average Division (Football) 3.95833*
Division Average W-L Record: 5W-4.75L*
Number of Playoff Teams: 6 out of 24 league teams made the playoffs

SEOAL
Average Division (Football) 2.875*
Average W-L Record: 5.625W-4.5L*
Number of Playoff Teams: 2 out of 8 league teams made the playoffs

*These are averages.
**Stats according to macattacksports.com

I used to be a staunch supporter of Logan staying in the SEOAL no matter what. However, as time passes, so does the prime of the league. Schools are going different directions for obvious reasons (politics, finances, enrollment) and it reflects in the overall fluctuation of the league within the past decade. Pfloyd is correct in saying that the OCC will never extend an invite to anything outside of the Columbus "satellite" communities anymore. Although I do believe that there could be a good division established with some of the schools on the south side of the outerbelt, Lancaster, and Logan........but again, never gonna happen. The time has come for Logan to move on. Their legacy has been set in the SEOAL. What else is there to accomplish in the league? The question is, does joining the MSL leave you better off overall in preparing your athletes for elite competition in all sports than staying in the SEOAL. I know that the MSL has some very good teams in basketball and football throughout many of the OHSAA divisions. As for the other sports ??? I will look for an actual thread to open up on this topic soon. I am sure there will be a lot of conversation regarding it.

The third is the Ohio
I have it on good authority that there has been conversations at the mid state a.d.s meeting which have included Logan and Chilly.
I also know they are talking about adding a fourth divison in the league due to some of the schools such as Canal and Licking Heights are getting too big for the division they are in. Example Millersport a very small D-IV is in the Cardinal with Licking Heights which is a big D-II school. They are trying to decide if they want to go to 4-6 team divisions or 4-7 team divisions.
Other schools that have been mentioned are: London, Madison Plains, Jonathan Alder, Fairfield Christian, Watkins Memorial, Grove City Christian and Gahana Christian.
The current divisions are
Cardinal
Harvest Prep, Fisher Catholic, Licking Heights, Berne Union Liberty Union, West Jeff, Grandview[/b][/b]
Buckeye
Canal, Logan Elm, Teays Valley, Bloom Carrol, Hamilton Twsp, Fairfield Union, C'ville, Amanda
Ohio
Granville, Newark Catholic, Heath, Columbus Academy, Licking Valley, Whitehall, Lakewood, Bexley

There is talk that Groveport and Watkins Memorial might be another addition as well.
I like a division with Logan-Chilly-Canal-Groveport-Teays Valley-Watkins-Logan Elm-Hamilton Twp

I have heard that Canal may go into the OCC and Watkins will come into the MSL. Again, this is just a rumor.

I am going to go ahead and start up a thread on the football forum relating to this topic out of respect for this thread.

If the MSL does expand, and it probably has to at least realign with growing schools, Licking Heights would go into a large school division.

Logan Elm would probably go into the middle-sized division.

In the first place you have to consider more than just athletics. Secondly, tradition should count for something, and no one knows or appreciates their long standing status as charter members of the 85 year old SEOAL more than Logan, Jackson, and Gallia Academy.

Finally, when considering athletics, there are more sports involved than just football. Logan DOES NOT dominate the SEOAL in any other sport. What IS true is Logan will probably always field a quality football team. Having said that, I will bet my house that they wont win the SEOAL football championship every year. They have enjoyed the best decade in football in school history, but to have one mountaintop you need two valleys, and the pendulum swings both ways.

As recently as the mid to late 90s, Jackson fielded some of the best football teams in SEOAL history, and ran roughshod over the SEOAL and anyone else on their schedule. They also won their last SEOAL football championship in 1998, which was ironically the last year only four teams per region made the playoffs. Starting in 1999 they expanded to eight.

If everyone will just chill, I believe Logan will return to the pack at about the same time one or more teams will be getting closer to Logan in ability, and there will once again be some fierce competition for SEOAL titles.

In that timeframe between Jackson dominance and the Conrads arriving, GAHS went about 4 or so years only losing 1 league game each year.......to Logan. Then after the Conrads and before the Angles, GAHS won or shared three SEOAL football titles in a row.

It has happened before and it will happen again; perhaps even this coming fall. I dont understand why everyone keeps trying to see the end of the SEOAL.

they also dominate in track.

The names I keep hearing are Drunk1, moonschein, and Kenny Bixx. Koondogger lost consideration when it was divulged that he has never had a drink of alcohol in his life.

I was told Tuck was told his services would no longer be needed.
Now he can devote all of his time to "Team Ohio"
