Your not the only one, the only problem is the powers that be at the Grove won't let that happen, I guess I am one of the few people who thinks that only way you get better is playing better teams.

that is for sure you have to play better teams to get better. Maybe sometime in the near future the series will get renewed

I am not sure what this is supposed to mean? Are you trying to say Coal Grove's schedule is weak? I will have to disagree. You want to renew this series based on the name"Wheelersburg." Minford I do believe has beaten Wheelersburg the past two seasons! Why water it down and play an inferior team to the ones we already play? We did pick up Athens..which was I believe 10-0 last season. Explain the comment----I guess I am one of the few people who thinks that the only way you get better is playing better teams???
This schedule is pretty tough!

Re: CG schedule 2010
First off, Athens went 9-1 and played a pretty weak schedule for the size of team they have. Second look at our schedule, beside level one computer points how does Greenup County help us.
Trimble is a DIV VI school that went 6-4 last year and only was above .500 due to going undefeated in their conference, how does that game help us. There are spots in the schedule that a game against a Wheelersburg or another top area team could be put into. You mention Athens, why did we have to go that far away to get a game when Wheelersburg is much closer to us. I had this discussion the other day, we are playing Athens, Meigs, and Trimble, with us traveling to two of these schools this year. Why not play teams closer to us, you want to play a Div VI school, then play Symmes Valley, we have quality teams around us, why do we need to go that far away to get games. I said Athens went 9-1 last year, the previous two seasons they were 4-6 and 1-9, how do we know what team they will have this year, we know what we will get with a Wheelersburg, or dare I say an Ironton and I see us being a better team win or lose for playing these teams then playing some of the teams we have on our schedule.

i couldn't agree more. i mean last yr we signed a one yr deal with cleve vasj and they drove over 4 hours for the game. in 2007 we played johnson central in ky which is about 2 1/2 hrs from here plus we traveled to st clairsville for the 2nd of a 2 yr deal which was a 2 hr or so drive.
as for the comment about athens and which team cg will get. the burg signed a 4 yr deal with rock hill. in 08 we beat them 52-7 and they went 0-10. in 09 we beat them 45-0 and they went 3-7. so burg fans can say the same thing about rock hill.

Re: CG schedule 2010
Which is my point I mean look at Wheelersburg road non-conf schedule compared to Coal Groves and travel time for away games.
WHEELERSBURG
/27/2010
7:30 PM IRONTON (IRONTON) IV H
9/3/2010
7:30 PM @ OAK HILL (OAK HILL) V A -------33 minute travel time
9/10/2010
7:30 PM PORTSMOUTH (PORTSMOUTH) IV H
9/17/2010
7:30 PM @ FAIRLAND (PROCTORVILLE) IV A ---50 minutes travel time
9/24/2010
7:30 PM ROCK HILL (IRONTON) IV H
COAL GROVE
8/27/2010
7:30 PM @ MEIGS (POMEROY) IV A ---1 hour 35 minutes travel time
9/3/2010
7:30 PM ATHENS (THE PLAINS) II H
9/10/2010
7:30 PM @ VALLEY (LUCASVILLE) V A---49 minutes travel time
9/17/2010
7:30 PM @ TRIMBLE (GLOUSTER) VI A---2 hours 5 minutes travel time
9/24/2010
7:30 PM Greenup County (Kentucky) (GREENUP) II H
Wheelersburg's longest road trip (travel time wise) is our shortest. Now I am in no way picking on Wheelersburg here, in fact if I was the burg I would take it as in insult that area schools think your an easier win than Coal Grove, but thats just me.
Now if you throw in conf schedule there is no comparison, Wheelersburg travels to Waverly which isn't that far of a trip, compared to when Coal Grove has to travel to River Valley.

I am one of those who would like to see the Burg/CG series renewed. But I also think CGs schedule has improved by leaps and bounds compared to say 3 years ago.
Re: CG schedule 2010
Trimble will give Coal Grove all they want when go up to Glouster. Tough place to play with a great atmosphere.

I'm not saying our schedule is bad, I just want to know why we have to travel like the distances we are. I just want to know if local teams had the same dates open as us why not get games with them, why travel and hour or even two hours for a game.

Re: CG schedule 2010
Coal Grove has never played a home playoff game on their own field!! And 1 I'm saying 1 playoff appearence in the last 16 years. Thats ridiculous, but they will keep bragging how they have won the OVC but they should be making playoff runs. They wont play the burg, Ironton, ashland, russell or anyone else close becuase he is to worried about wins on his record and his son taking the reigns than a state title. You have to play better schools than you if you want to make runs and have the experience to do so. Keep the OVC streak alive and be complacent, with the conference.

Re: CG schedule 2010
footballcrazy, I a Coal Grove fan am making the same complaint as you, and I am not alone in this, I want to play tougher teams, I mean I look at the schedules we use to play when I was in school compared to the schedules of today and there is no contest as to what schedule was tougher, I want to play tougher teams, just so our boys are (not sure this is the way I want to put this) forced to play great, disciplined football every week.
