2010 - Wahama White Falcons
2010 - Wahama White Falcons
There is alot of talk on here about the Hocking Division now that it has expanded. Everyone thinks Wahama may be a force to be reckoned with. Whikle I think they will beat up on some of the wimpy nonfootball schools in this division (Federal, Southern, and Miller), I figure they will wilt in the face of improved competition. Playing Eastern and trimble won't be like playing Hannan and Buffalo.
here are my picks for the fall:
1. EASTERN - SuperDick will reign in 2010
2. Belpre - the second best eagles in the league
3. Trimble - The King has fallen
4. Wahama - Can't even make WV's playoffs with all these losses
5. Southern - Yawn
6. Federal Hocking - all those kids and they still can't win
7. Miller - Yawn
8. Waterford - Yawn
9. South Gallia - Not the only team about to learn a lesson (see Wahama)

Howie will never let enough athletes play football to win the TVC but it is nice to dream.
That's funny, classof86 said Howie loves multi sport atheletes. Maybe he meant as long as they are not basketball players?

I would like to know why Wahama wont play Meigs? It is right across the river so it would be a huge gate. I know the last two times they played Meigs put a butt whippin on em and sent em back across the Ohio with them tails twixed their legs. But with what I heard they should be good this year. So come on Wahama bring that coach from Athens with ya and step up to the plate.

Probably the same reasons Meigs will no longer play Gallia Academy.

At best, Eastern will be the third best team in the Hocking. With an upset or two they may not even finish that high.
Re: 2010 - Wahama White Falcons
Trimble has to be the favorite in the Hocking. Meigs doesnt play Wahama because they are a DVI school (in Ohio standards)...Not sure why Athens played them this past year...? Also, after giving Athens all they wanted, I think Wahama wouldve done the same to Meigs if not pulled out the win.

I personally would like to see this series started back up in 2011. It's a rivalry game with Meigs and Gallipolis only being separated by 15 minutes. Both schools are about the same size. It always brings a good gate, and should be played for that reason alone. Not to mention Gallia hasn't been what they were before the series ended, but will be drastically improved this season IMHO.

This series doesn't benefit Logan in any way besides the gate. At Logan's size they need to play the larger schools from the Columbus area for playoff points. It would be great for Nelsonville if they could pull off the upset, but more often than not I think they would find themselves on the losing end. No slight to Nelsonville because they are a very good division 5 program, but the division 2 playoffs are a totally different animal.

If Trimble and NY combine, then you would see the NY/Logan matchup back on the schedule.

Maybe, it would still only make them an average size division 3 school though. Hopefully they do not have to consolidate because I know the Trimble fans are not in favor of losing their identity. I would rather see division 2 Athens grow a pair and play Logan again.

Wahama would beat Meigs in football Just like they have done in every other sport the two schools have played in the last 5 years. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Well in football the head to head record, which is all we can go by, is Meigs 3 Wahama 0. Those were 3 resounding beatings the boys from Meigs put on the Falcons. Then the coach from Wahama was scared to play. If I am not mistaken, he is still the coach over there. So I doubt we will get a chance anytime soon to put another butt whoopin on them boys.

We know the feeling. One scrimmage against us was enough.

Wow! Go Bigblacks you have some nerve saying that after your coach said before the scrimmage that he didnt think
he wanted to do it again because of the numbers . And your basketball coach dropped Wahama for Richie and Roane county. Go win a playoff game then talk smack. what is it 24 years and counting.

Re: 2010 - Wahama White Falcons
He may have said that but he had no intentions of dropping the scrimmage because it was going to be a HOME scrimmage for us this year.
But, instead, you guys dropped it, leaving us having to have two away scrimmages and having to scrap just to find another one because we thought the second scrimmage from you guys would be honored.
I wouldn't be talking smack about a team that hasn't won a playoff game in a while when you just dropped them. Plus, didn't we just beat the team that you guys always claimed was so tough and you can't beat?
As for basketball, I understand both sides in the situation. Our coach likes playing the teams in our sectional and I understand his reasoning for that but I also understand why Wahama would be upset as well because it is a big money gate and such.

Re: 2010 - Wahama White Falcons
Na, they just didn't want to scrimmage for other reasons. They were ok with the stadium last year when they came down to practice on it for the playoffs, don't see why they wouldn't want to play on it.
Wow, we raised over 2.3 million dollars on our own and our board of education helps to pay for the rest (that is not a gift, by the way) and people still hate on the facility. Remember, if there is no new stadium, then we are still playing at Sanders Memorial which means that the old building is still there. Which means there is no 500,000+ plus dollars for the property a few months ago, plus the costs to to keep the building insured and heated (close to 80,000 a year).
Our people worked hard for the stadium and the BOE decided to help us out to finish the stadium. Like I said, it helped them out to get us out of Sanders and get that school sold. No one wanted a football stadium behind their business. We can't help that.
And relax, we've had plenty of big wins the last two years. The win over Wayne was much bigger than the Williamstown win.
