NEW Performance Enhancement Program at the Jackson YMCA
The Speed Performance Oriented Resistance Training program at the Jackson Area YMCA is ideal for all athletes regardless of sport and will help give you and your team the winning edge.
Athletic Performance Enhancement
Through our intense regiment of cutting edge training methods, our highly qualified exercise physiologist will assess your abilities and fitness levels to tailor a plan that is best suited to your needs as an athlete through increased strength speed and agility.
Athletic Performance Testing
Each athlete that participates in the SPORT program will participate in test in and test out sessions that will consist of speed agility and strength testing. The test in will allow our staff to get a better idea of the needs of each athlete so that your SPORT program can be tailored to maximize your benefits. The test out will be the demonstration of the improvement that you have been able to achieve.
Points of Training
Speed is an undeniable difference maker in every sport. It is the one aspect that can set an athlete apart from the pack.
Strength is the corner stone of any successful athlete’s training and it can make the difference between 1st and 10 or 4th and 1 on the football field, or change a triple into a home run on the diamond. Strength will undoubtedly have a positive affect on all athletes regardless of sport.
Agility is the ability to react to a given stimulus. In most sports that stimulus is seen in the form of the opposing team. Increasing an athlete’s agility will result in the athlete being able to react quicker and perform more efficiently.
Improved Confidence and Understanding of Training After completion of the program the athlete will leave with a new sense of confidence in their improved athletic abilities and will have an understanding of the safe and proper way to train for their sport

Re: NEW Performance Enhancement Program at the Jackson YMCA
Sessions are forming now. The athlete will be able to schedule their sessions within reason to when it best suits their schedule. I expect most to start early June once school lets out.
Anyone who is interested please email me at [email protected] and I will send you a printable brochure. Several local athletic directors should be receiving some by mail shortly. If you want to make sure you and your school get them please contact me and I will get them out to you.

Most of the football coaches I know will just loooove this.
Many will not take well to their players going outside of the team programs. How will the head football coach at (insert school here) respond when little Johnny shows up and says, "that is not what they taught us at the YMCA program."

How will that same head football coach at (insert school here) respond when little Johnny shows up stronger, faster, smarter?
Every coach I know would be thrilled to have a player dedicated enough to spend the time and money to do this. I know I would be.
BTW, I am familiar with these types of programs and they are geared towards off-season participation (i.e. summer). They are not designed for in-season sports. I would imagine this program is the same.

Re: NEW Performance Enhancement Program at the Jackson YMCA
Karma is correct, through my experience most coaches are glad to have athletes participate in extra training programs outside of their in house program. The SPORT program offers an individualized training program that is tailored to the needs of each athlete.

Re: NEW Performance Enhancement Program at the Jackson YMCA
I wish that I could live in your Pollyanna worlds, but many FB coaches I know like to have as much control over their programs as possible.
Maybe they all changed in the six months since I last coached any high school football, and most of the guys who I know as head football coaches tend to be fairly conservative (not liking change) personalities...

Again I would like to stress that this is a program that can serve as an addition to their in house training, done by each coach at their individual school. We are more than willing to work with any and all coaches when tailoring the program to their athletes. Parents and coaches are of course welcome to attend sessions as well.
At SPORT we have the ability to focus on a smaller group of athletes, allowing for more individualized training. Our program is also open to athletes as young as 13 making it a safe way for the young athletes to get introduced to training, and get a head start on their competition.

Gotta agree with you Karl. I have seen parents and athletes come to practice late in the summer and say, "Johnny worked out at the club with this great strength coach, that's why he didn't come to your workouts..." Then of course said coach responds with, "well I hope the club has a team for Johnny to play on cause he won't get much time on this one..." This has the potential to cause a lot of problems. To add to that, who wants their players to do extra workouts? Only those who do not provide quality workouts themselves would be my guess. I know my kid strength and speed trains year round, so I sure do not want extra workouts that could cause over training. I too am wondering about the free ads???

Re: NEW Performance Enhancement Program at the Jackson YMCA
Please do not misunderstand this program. It is designed to be an addition to their programs, and tailored around their individual needs. IT IS NOT a replacement for the training they receive from their coaches and no athlete should skip in house training to train in the SPORT program.
We are able to offer athletes a professional evaluation of their fitness levels, and abilities. We are then able to design an ideal program for them to meet their specific needs, based on proven scientific principles. Most football coaches have to train an excess of 40 athletes, while working on other football duties. This makes it hard for them, to be able to individualize a specific program for each individuals needs. This is why college and professional teams have strength and conditioning coach who deals with these needs. No high school in our area has the money to offer strength and conditioning coach to their students, so local coaches are forced to do the best they can with the limited amount of time and resources they have. Also through my experience many schools do not have much of a training program set up for their athletes with the exception of football.
We are also offering this program to younger athletes as well. Many of the athletes in this group do not have an opportunity to train at the school because the high school teams take priority.
I would also like to tell you that I have previously interned in the Performance Enhancement Clinic at the SOMC Life Center in Portsmouth, which is a program very similar to this one. While I was there we had a great rapport with many local coaches in the Scioto county area. This is a program that has been going for at least 10 years. Many local coaches actually encourage their athletes to participate in the program because they are able to offer them a service that they are not able to do in house, not because the coaches don’t have the ability but because they don’t have the time and resources to do so.
Again if this is somehow against the rules of the forum please delete it. I know it is a bit of an advertisement, but I wanted to make sure the athletes of southeast Ohio were fully aware of this program.

Yeah, I thought that too when I first read it.
This looks like a good set up to me. I did the program at the LC in Portsmouth years ago when they first started it. It was good stuff, it made me a lot faster. This looks to be the same kind of program. I know when I was in school coach Clifford encouraged guys on the team to do the one at the LC.
