You are dead wrong. This team will be remembered for a very long time. Not only did they finish as runner up in DIII, they set the school record for most wins in a season. If not for those reasons alone, people will be talking about this team for a long time because of Caleb Leachs Grand Slam in the bottom of the 12th to win the semi final game. Trust me, this team, will be talked about for many, many years to come.

Congrats on an awesome year to the players and the coaching staff. It may not have eneded they way we would have liked it to, but it was still a very impressive year.

Congrats to the young men from Wheelersburg on a fine season. You have nothing, absolutely nothing, to hang your heads about. Today just was not the day for the Pirates. You fell to a very good hitting team. And I agree with Burg grad, I'm sure your team will be talked about for years to come.

I am always amazed at the amount of people that degrade anything that student-athletes accomplish. Congratulations on a very fine season.

Meh...lots of people still remember teams even though they were unable to win it all. Hell, off hand, Wheelersburg had a great run in 1995 basketball but got beat in the finals by Orrville; Portsmouth got beat in the 1990 state finals by Dayton Colonel White in basketball; Wheelersburg softball got beat in the state finals in 2004; West got beat in the state football finals in 2002; I could go on and on, but the point is it doesn't take anything away from Burg's great season. Congrats to Burg and their players and parents on a tremendous season.*

Snake, why would you say that. At least they made it to the state title. I recall South Webster going to state in basketball and winning a few years ago. AND i recall West going to state for football but losing. This Burg team will remain a part of history in Scioto County. Congrats to the Burg Baseball team on a very good saeson. Keep your heads up boys, you made us all proud.

Congratulations to Wheelersburg from a Minford fan on a great season. For whatever reason it wasn't in the cards today but that does not diminish the season you had. You have every reason to be proud of your season and your accomplishments. You represented the SOC well.

Wow what a season what else more can we say- today just wasnt our day- they hit the ball well and we didnt- nothing to be ashamed of- so proud of our seniors for without them we would not have had the great season 31-2 that we had. Thank you boys for the the great season- to the parents of these young men thank you- what great people you are, what a great baseball family we have here in "the burg" Go BURG

Congrats Pirates on a very fine season. Only two teams in Div. III can say at the end of the season that they were either state champs or state runner-ups. Today you just happened to be the runner-ups on the field but in the eyes of the Burg, you are the champs.

You guys had the best season ever as a Burg baseball team. 31-2 is nothing to be ashamed of.

To the Seniors, thanks for your team loyalty and good luck in your future endeavors. Some of you will continue on to college to play ball while others will just be going to college and don't pay attention to what snake says, 10, 20, 30 years from now you will all remember and reminisce back to not only this past weeks games, but to the 4 years you had as Burg baseball players.


Was sitting at Dick's pizza when I heard all the sirens and someone asked what was going on and then it hit me that they were probably escorting the Pirates back home and deservingly so.

Great Effort by the Pirates, Congrats on a great season, 2nd in State is pretty darn good! Great Community support as always. Good Luck to all the Seniors as they start the next journey of their life. Younger guys, go get em again next year, and work hard this summer on your game.
