The city use to pay 2 seniors to open the gym in the summer. Gave us like 5 bucks an hour to roll balls out from 10am to 1pm. Open gym will prob still be on the barn on 4th. I doubt if they open up the new gym for that. It's too nice.
Spruce St was the place to be. ;)

these kids need gym time just using the net as a source for info. im sure im not the first or last parent wondering about open gym lol. there was a time open gym was pretty much mandatory if you catch my drift!!!

yeah they did use seniors to hang around while people played ball but was always supervised by the ol ball coach.

spruce st was the place to be.

They really should have the Open Gym at the new gymnasium. I think it's important to get a feel for your floor and surroundings. Also, playing against "the older guys" definately made me a better player so they should keep it open to the public. Heck, if you could get Gary Harrison off of the golf course, he's still probably the best basketball player in Gallipolis. Playing against/with Harrison, "Butch?", "Mo?", "Nosey", the James Brothers, and others was a great part of my summers in the late '90s. I can't forget football weight lifting MWF @ 8AM (man that seemed SO early back then, haha), basketball MTThF, night basketball W, and baseball/city pool every afternoon. Looking back, it seems pretty crazy.

People play at GDC every Sunday and a couple of nights through the week. Past few weeks been great ball played and about 4-5 teams playing. Great way to tune tour game up by playing against a diverse group of players.
