Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
Just got back from sunny and hot Chieftain Stadium.I'm just going to give the Logan varsity scores.First game of the day pitted Logan vs Alexander,,,Alexander won it 2-1.... Next up Logan vs Berne Union Logan won 2-1, last game was Bexley vs Logan, Bexley won 4-1,Two of the scores I give Bexley were ints in the open that would have went for 6. I'm assuming Jurgensmire started with the varsity,he didn't looked too bad altogether but needs to make better decisions throwing into tight coverage, maybe when the pads come on he'll tuck it and run,the defense had a few lapses but was pretty tight for the most part,,i'd give Logan an overall grade of B- to C+..Lots of room for improvement all around but its still very early on.....
Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
I was at the 7 on 7 too--Alexander and Bexley played eight on defense and Logan and Berne Union played seven.
I had Logan and Alexander 2 to 2
Logan had a 2yd TD and a 10Yd TD
Alexander had a 1yd TD and A 3Yd TD
Logan had 2 Int that could have gone for a TD and A pass picked up behind the line that also could have gone for a TD.
Logan 16 for 28 for 107yds and two TDs against eight defenders.Logan had 2 plays thay would have gone for TDs if only seven defenders.
Alexander 12 for 23 for 59 yds 2 TDs 2 ints one pass for a six yds loss. Alexander also had 3 no plays.
Berne Union and Bexley played to a 0/0 tie
Berne Union 6 for 16 for 57 yds--2 no plays
Bexley 9 for 17 for 72 yds--
Berne Union had 2 Tds to Logan's 2-Both teams played 7 on defense
Berne union had 18 yd TD, 23 yd Td and a 9 yd TD that was played after time was over.
Logan had a 35 yd TD and a 3 yd TD
Berne Union 10 out of 21 for 136yds two Tds 1 no play 1 int
Logan 11 out of 24 for 107 yds 2 TDs and 1 int with 3 no plays
Bexley and Alexander played to a 2/2 tie
Bexley had a 22 yd TD and a 2 yd TD
Alexander had a 13 yd TD and a 22 yd TD
Bexley 8 out of 21 for 91yds 2 TDs with 2 no plays
Alexander 11 out of 25 for 97 yds and 2 TDs with 4 no plays
Both played 8 on defense
Bexley and Logan played to a 2/2 tie
Logan had a 30 yd TD and a 10 yd TD with a 18yd TD being called out of bounds
Bexley had a 1 yd TD and a 35 Yd Td
Logan 14 out of 30 for 139 yds 3 ints and 2 TDs
Bexley 9 out of 21 for 112 yds 2 TDs
Had Alexander over Berne Union 6 to 4
Alexander 14 out of 22 for 235yds 6 TDs 1 no play
Berne Union 7 out of 18 for 140yds 5 no plays
Alexander TDs--5,7,13,40,25,24
Berne Union Tds--25,40,20,5
In the Alexander/Berne Union game it was hard to tell what was going on at times--seemed like they were calling plays dead at times even though they got the play off.

I doubt they dropped 8 in coverage. There had to be something up with that. I'm sure they only dropped 7 like everyone else.
Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
Logan and Berne Union only played seven on defense while Bexley and Alexander played eight and none of the eight stayed on the line.
There where plenty of cameras out there and a couple of teams filming that will show that.

Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
no reply are you sure your not including reserve plays in your synopsis i only counted the varsity,, I had a notebook writing down each time a team had a td or int and didn't write any ints down in the alex game until the reserves played.varsity only played two series then they called in the reserves and they did have some ints that could have gone.and also you didn't mention the long pass alex had for their last varsity play, don't know how i missed the other run they scored on but they definetly scored on a long pass play,I didn't actually pay attention how many they dropped against logan but in one of their other games i could have sworn they kept one guy at the center.
Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
I did keep the V & R. You might be right about the last play for Alexander. I seem to remember that.
Maybe someone can come on here to let us know why some teams had eight defenders

Okay I'll take your word for it.Maybe Wolfe wanted 8 defenders to make it tougher for his players, can't imagine him letting them get by with it on his own field.

Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
I would say that is their personnel and they just blitzed a guy every play so they could get some of their blitz packages calls down. I have seen many teams use 8 and blitz someone every play. Not a big deal since he takes a knee at the line of scrimmage.
Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
Every play for Alexander and Bexley they dropped back and defended the 6 players of Logan. The widest guy for Logan was picked up at the line and followed plus another defender that played back went with the pattern. It looked like they defended the middle with four and the two outs had two on each. If they had seven defenders Logan could have picked them apart. If they were running play Logan's QB would have had a field day.

Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
Give it up. You're crying about a 7on7 and I just watched a copy of the 7on7 and both Bexly and Alexander blitzed a guy from the middle 4 every play
It's a passing scrimmage, don't worry so much about it.

Re: Logan 7 on 7--07/22/10
Yep time to move on,,these things don't mean much other than the QB getting his timing down with the recievers, most real games are won at the line of scrimmage with pads on.Hard to tell how good a team is with these things.

Yep, just like pre-season games in the NFL and MLB. Most of the teams that do well in those games if you look at the records do poorly in the regular season. Matchups, starters, scenarios, etc. are all different when it doesn't count.
