I've attended a number of these, and this game is probably one of the best around. Great facilities and the folks up in the northern panhandle know how to put on an all-star game. There's a reason they've hosted the "Super Six" in WV for quite awhile now.

Won't be able to make it this year, but I'd encourage anyone from SE Ohio who wants to catch a great HS all-star game, with some great talent, to make the drive to Wheeling Island to enjoy a nice evening. Wish I could go this year, to watch DLD, but I have other commitments next weekend........

Steely,
I'm pretty sure you'll be able to watch the game LIVE on www.wtov9.com next Sunday. Pretty certain Channel 9's done this in the past as I recall watchin' it from work one time. Be cool to see Ohio's quarterback from Monroe Central one more time before he heads off to Bucknell to play some football.

carbon_dated, That would be great if Channel 9 runs it live. Living 400+ miles away makes it a little hard to see it in person. That means I get to see two All-star games in less than a week..This Wednesday (7-21) is North Carolina's East/West All-star game with players from the whole state playing to Greensboro. All week is All-star week, Today-Ladies & Mens Basketball, Tuesday- Ladies & Mens Soccer and Wednesday- Football. Only downfall is, its suppose to be 98 deg. here Wed.

CD - Thanks buddy! I'll tune it in at home, as long as I can get home before the game starts. It is gonna be a LONNNGGGG weekend, if you know what I mean ;-) !

Article in newspaper in Wheeling indicates that this game is losing over $13,000 a year. It cost $49000 to house and feed the players last year, and that is expected to go up 30% this year. A charity game that loses $13,000 a year isn't much of a charity.

I know, heard on radio that West Liberty U. is housing the players, band, and coaches...and feeding them, for a week, and yet, gouging the OVAC for 49G. Doesn't sound very charitable either to me.

I'd like to see the band, if they have to have an all-star band, play before the game, as well as have the Queen of Queens contest before the game. Like someone said on the radio, it's 90 degrees out, hot Sunday game that starts at 7, the halftime takes up an hour and the players want to get it over with. I'd consider even playing on Saturday night.

Northern Light,
Yep, it'll be on the www.wtov9.com website to watch LIVE.

Is that North Carolina all-star game on a webcast as well? What's the link if you have it.

Ohio was on the 5 yd. line after Dierkes kept for about 30 yards, but after another bad snap from the center, Ohio tried a field goal as time expired in the half and WV blocked it.

Halftime, 7-3.
