If you look at their schedule you could easily say they are for sure one of the top teams in the Region. They lost to Ironton, #1 in R 15 and to the #1 in R 19 Oak Hill. They lost by a combined 12 points to easily the top 2 teams around here.
Just let the games sort themselves out. If they win against West then Wheelersburg will finish 3rd or 4th in the region and will get a home game. That sounds about right. I can understand the disappointment if they lose to West because their losses will have been to 2 very good D4's and the top team in R19. I could sympathize with that as there will be teams make it with less impressive "resumes". Just the way it works though.

You can play the best teams in the state, but if u lose your not getting any points from them at all. Strength of schedule doesn't matter if you don't win those games.

^^^Exactly right. You don't get "tough guy" points for committing schedule suicide.

That is a profound statement, in more ways than one

You made laugh out loud when I read that, because it is so spot on. If people only understood this point, they'd get it. You get criticized for not playing a tough enough schedule by folks outside of SE Ohio, and then you schedule up, and you get your arse kicked. A couple of teams that come to mind that I thought may have committed schedule suicide this year were Nelsonville York and Trimble, but it looks like it may work out for both squads, if they win week 10.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, you have to find a balance so that you get enough wins to get to the dance.......

Spot on Steely, I have seen NY criticized on both ends in the same post. Can't make everyone happy.

I think the 8 teams currently in the top 8 will be the 8 that qualify, but I expect the order to be shaken up a bit.

I think they will finish like this:

#8 Monroe Central @ #1 Oak Hill
#5 Coal Grove @ #4 Wheelersburg
#7 Ridgewood @ #2 Fredericktown
#6 Nelsonville-York @ #3 Valley

I think the top 4 seeds are the favorites in each game, but also think that upsets are much more likely in the 8-1 game and the 6-3 game. I know a lot of folks are high on Oak Hill, and I think they are dangerous, but I just have a gut feeling for some reason.

If oak hill plays the way they did against new Richmond without the stupid penalties and simple mistakes they will smash every team in the region maybe except burg but u think oK hill will beat them again 2 I have yet to see anybody that can stop westem and that pass game it just a great combo and that defense to it's one of the best in d-5 don't know much about anybody else other than burg and nelsonvulle

I think you're probably spot on Curious George! As bad as CG fans are going to hate to hear it, my guess is we're gonna be headed to Ed Miller to take on the Pirates for the first time since 1996. Either that or a return to Valley for a rematch. Unless Minford throws a wrench into the works (which is a distinct possibility), your scenario looks the most likely.
A rematch of last year's Regional Title game between Fredericktown and Ridgewood in the 1st round would be huge!

With one week left and nothing decided who would you like for your team to be playing in week 11 or what matchups would you like to see?

These won't happen, but with the 8 that are in right now I'd like to see:

F-Town/Ridgewood
Burg/Oak Hill
CG/NY
MC/Valley

This is the way I think it'll end up:

1) Oak Hill
2) Fredericktown
3) Wheelersburg
4) Coal Grove
5) Minford
6) Ridgewood
7) Monroe Central
8 ) Caldwell

If Nelsonville wins move them into 6th place, and Calwell out.

1) Oak Hill
2) Fredericktown
3) Wheelersburg
4) Coal Grove
5) Minford
6) Nelsonville
7) Ridgewood
8 )Monroe Central

This is how I see things ending up.

1 OAK HILL (9-1) 36 193 22.9000
2 FREDERICKTOWN (10-0) 41.5 183.5 22.5000
3 WHEELERSBURG (8-2) 35.5 162 19.7500
4 VALLEY (9-1) 39 158 19.7000
5 COAL GROVE (9-1) 41 154.5 19.5500
6 NELSONVILLE (8-2) 35.5 154.5 19.1561
7 RIDGEWOOD (10-0) 39 141 18.0000
8 MONROE CENTRAL (8-2) 30.5 147 17.8485
9 CALDWELL (9-1) 34 132.5 16.6500
10 ADENA (7-3) 30 129 15.9000

Nelsonville York and Coal Grove could swap, hard to judge Greenup Co. points,I gave them 4.5 for this wks game,so if Greenup Co loses put Coal Grove at 6 and Nelsonville York at 5.
