Hand off machine... i understand what the tigers are thinking with the new offence and i like it. If futrell starts the idea of passing has no chance. Id not waist baker at TE have him in matt's RB spot and matt at QB. Then you can still run now your qb can also run. Even a down Morgan team will handle the misdirection run with no chance of a pass. Coach knows best but loyal fans have to wonder if this is the best direction. I hope the tigers do well. Those kids need wins. They have worked hard for them! Good luck tigers

Bigcat, I am an outsider looking in as well. One thing I do know is this coaching staff has some jewelry. Jewelry ?? something like five championship rings. That is staff combined, so being a Marietta man, that is impressive. No matter where you coached. They will make the best decisions for the team first. To me my friend, that is moving in the right direction. For this town and team moving forward. Our kids will make us proud. Numbers will eventually pick up. And and they will compete at the level they should. I guess I am getting to old or to patient. haha

Having watched the Wing-T at Warren for the last four years and through the Devol years. Passing can and does happen. Case in point, Shawn Taylor under Devol 2,343 yds in 96, 1,511 yds in 95, Ellenwood 851 yds in 2009 under Pifer (got this from the Warren web site). I am guessing that McKitrick is a better passer??, than Futrell, from the above posts. Would McKitrick make a receiver (he is a solid football player), can Futrell throw the ball? Is there other receiver material in the ranks? I am not much of a fan of the Wing-T, but it is a relatively easy offense to learn compared to others and teams do have success with it. Watched some, not all of the finals on STOhio and saw little Wing-T in the finals game I saw, not saying that someone didn't use it, just not the games I watched. But, (And I can't believe, that I am saying this, we usually are on opposite sides of the street) I understand bigcatmarietta's concerns. This will be a gigantic change from what they are used to. The same could be said in Vincent, fans, players, coaches, critics, the side-line QB club are going to see a completely new look wearing the Blue & White this fall. How about this, I sincerely wish both schools the best in their transition to a new coach and the Tigers success in their new league.

I am not going to publically call out kids or give names in my discussion. That being said, I have been in the stands for every game the last ten years and if jbunker's line up is correct, quite a few kids out of position, two people on the oline that are not even playing (from the other kids on team I have talked to). I would switch the two safeties. I am a Marietta fan, I wish them the best!!
Auburntgrfan - Marietta is far from worrying about their offense in a state finals, they need to focus on a ball control and scoring some points to give the defense a break.

Didn't a 2-8 Marietta team beat one of those "rings" in 2003 jbunker? Maybe where you coached does matter.

Again been a Marietta man for at least 10 years, I want nothing more than for someone to turn it around. I agree, putting players in positions that benefit the team instead of where they want to play is a step in the right direction.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info guys. Always enjoyed the people I've gotten know in Marietta the last 10 years or so. I have always been treated well and enjoyed my visits, even in 2002. The better team won that night and I probably couldn't have chosen a more deserving team to snap Logan's last SEOAL win streak. They were so close to doing it in 2001. (DOUBLE PASS)

Good Luck to Coach Farnsworth and crew.

I like the excitement on this topic. The kids need people pushing for them. I want to make it clear, im not saying marietta's staff is not good or wont be good. I want them to be great. Not for anyone but the players. Its time marietta makes the change from maybe some wins to how many wins.

My thoughts on the QB deal are my thoughts, they don't mean much to anyone but me. I just think if we are putting best kids in best spots that one is off the radar as far as QB goes. Just my opinion.

Bunk i have said my piece on this jewelry issue b4. A few of those rings are courtesy of mike Devil and Marshal Burdett. Id say i spelled there names wrong but if anyone thinks those championships were because of anyone else, well football may not be your thing. Marshall B,coach farnsworths mentor, left PHS under some serious accusations, true who knows, i don't. Craig was left with that team marshall built. Craig used marahalls offense and defense with the help of Mr.Football in WVU that year to get his ring.
Past is the.past i want marietta to get some jewelry in football b4 i hear this jewelry argument anymore.

Mariettafootball.com shows coaches on the football field are in and out all the time. Coach Farnsworth don't get pushed and do your thing. Us arm chair QB'S will take the easy road and coach from here. You load the tigers up and do your best that's all any MARIETTA fan can ask of you and your staff!!!!

So how is practice coming? I had heard that there were some kids who quit already. With low numbers to begin with, that is not good. No action on here for a week, just wondering.
noreply66 wrote: Why is Futrell starting at QB over McKitrick?
McKitrick almost had a .500 completion % close to 1000 yds passing and 7td passes and Futrell only threw the ball twice all year.
Was Futrell suppose to be the QB last year and was hurt???
McKitrick was the starter last year. Futrell was the JV QB. I am guessing, but Farsworth must not have the QB very active in the run game and wanted McKitrick's athleticism to have more opportunity to handle the ball. Futrell will not be much of a passing threat though. Hope they will be able to run the ball.

28 kids on the squad, no JV team. 16 frosh on the frosh team. Here's hoping that the Tigers can stay healthy. It's going to be a rough year, but as long as the Tigers can be competitive and not be blown out everygame, that will be a positive note. Good luck to all the Tigers in 2010.

-last year they had 45 players on the team that were not 12th graders but that was counting the 9th grade so it looks like the numbers are about the same

Must be discouraging to the kids that no one cares enough to get on here and talk about them and their hard work. Unfortunately I, because of work, can not get to watch practice and was unable to watch the scrimmage or I would be giving updates.

How are things progressing? Are they progressing? How is the new coach working out?
