Re: top 15 teams in area of southern ohio
Here we go again. The truth is that most DIV I-IV would beat any DIV VI schools and that is a fact. But to leave them off the list wouldn't be right. Why dont someone list each division.

Southeast District membership should be the standard as this is a board that is primarily driven by SE District athletics.

Ah, ah, ah, that's NORTH of the border per some on here even though there are less town's and population up that way (per square mile) than there are down south and a lot more "woods" if you know what I mean.I drain 3's wrote:No Monroe Central, Barnesville, or Caldwell?

Just off the top of my head I would say "futuerbkstar" has taken History 101 through 404 and is very proficient at it. I agree with most of his picks.Ironman92 wrote:What is your cutoff? Ironton has 174 and Alexander 171.futurebkstar wrote:I'm breaking it down in to 2 sections

If Noble County isn't in southern Ohio, then I must not know where we are on the map. lol

I agree with you map wise. Notice the post I made around 7:30 yesterday up above ^^^^^. It's just that a lot of people cut off the borders of SEO by conferences. Anything north of the SEOAL or TVC isn't considered by many to be SEO. The SCOL, PVC, OVAC, MSL, ECOL and parts of the SVC are left out when many on here talk about SEO. In my personal case, being raised in Meigs county years ago we would get the Athens Messenger, the Daily Sentinel and the Gallipolis Tribune and you read about teams from Portsmouth to Chillicothe over to Athens and the Marietta area. Nothing was ever in the news about any of the teams or stories from outside those areas to the north or west so you didn't think much about it and no one ever talked about teams that far outside their area. All the papers and radio stations you would pick up would be about the SEOAL and the smaller conferences such as the OVC, SVAC, TVC etc. Even Chillicothe and Portsmouth back then were playing teams from SW Ohio and Central Ohio and you didn't here much about those two schools (both were much bigger then) until tournament time. I think a lot of people on here just aren't familiar with some of these other areas and discuss just their local team or conference. There's nothing wrong with doing that but I'm with you, all teams between Rt. 23 North to Columbus, South of I-70 to Bellaire and down the river back to Portsmouth should be considered SEO on this site.I drain 3's wrote:If Noble County isn't in southern Ohio, then I must not know where we are on the map. lol

Noble county is southeastern. I would say about half of Guernsey.
As far as counties to the north I would count parts of Belmont.Guernsey,Muskingum,Licking,Franklin and heading West I would say Pickaway,Ross,Pike and Scioto as southeastern. Counting what is within this -- is 1/4 of all counties in Ohio.

Re: top 15 teams in area of southern ohio
This post, as with this whole topic raises some thought. Maybe we should ask our basketball guru, pfloyd what he perceives to be southeastern.....and we may just possibly come up with a weekly elite 8 or top 10...just a thought.FANOSPORTS wrote:I agree with you map wise. Re: top 15 teams in area of southern ohio
First of all the ohsaa's system of determining which division schools compete in is very flawed. To only consider enrollment numbers is just goofy! Now, my big school and small school ratings:
Big:
1. Ironton
2. Jackson
3. Athens
4. Warren
5. Portsmouth west
Small:
1. Symmes valley
2. South gallia

Pfloyd only ranks the teams I mentioned. Pfloyd, 93bulldog and myself always did a weekly basketball rankings back to the days of the good huddle....we never varied from those teams.
