IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
Predictions, opinions, insight, insider info, Bring it all on! A new season of Fighting Tiger football is almost upon us, from all I have seen and heard this team looks to be very talented and with our current independence, a few fresh faces on the schedule and some bitter rivals the season should be very exciting. Coach Lutz never dissapoints and our young men have the eye of the tiger and a desire unlike any other. Opposing teams BEWARE! This is for the orange and black attack to throw it up and get ready!!!! I have witnessed way too much smack from some of these inferior programs on here and finally, THE SWAGGER IN TIGERTOWN HAS RETURNED!

Ironton vs. Burg? I'll take Ironton 23-7.
Ironton will go 9-1 this year.
Ironton will go 9-1 this year.

Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
Heard Wheelersburg is somewhat rebuilding, was not all that impressed with the Shankweiller kid last year, he seemed to struggle against our big athletic defense, now he is coming off a serious injury with a bit of a rebuilt supporting cast...I'm gonna go out on this one, Ironton wins 30-7! I told everyone...THE SWAGGER IS BACK!
Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
Keep being not impressed. It will be closer than what your thinkng. And they are not rebuilding with 18 seniors.BigCarlito72 wrote:Heard Wheelersburg is somewhat rebuilding, was not all that impressed with the Shankweiller kid last year, he seemed to struggle against our big athletic defense, now he is coming off a serious injury with a bit of a rebuilt supporting cast...I'm gonna go out on this one, Ironton wins 30-7! 1st scrimmage - Schank 7 carries for 93 yds
They lost a senior class that had speed but no team chemistry. This year's team is all about the team.
I-Town will always be a tough game becuase of their tradition and coaching but they better be prepared for a battle and there have only been a few games that have been blowouts in the series. 30-7 will not happen.

Don't get angry but I believe the loss comes @ Portsmouth. No big deal though as I have these teams meeting in the playoffs this year. Now, it is hard to beat a team twice in one year, especially Ironton. So, Ironton might get some revenge.

Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
On paper, Ironton looks to be very good. But this has been the case several times in the past decade or so, and the best Ironton has been able to do is the final 8. Don't get me wrong, there's no shame in that; I'm just saying that pre-season hype is one thing while success on the field is another.
I don't think there's much doubt that the Fighting Tigers are going to be a very good team; the question is whether, when all is said and done, they'll be included among the great Ironton teams.

Close game at Burg in my opinion. I am going with Ironton 19-17.

It would be very interesting to see 9-0 Ironton vs. 9-0 Portsmouth going into week 10!!!!!

Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
I think Ironton can make a serious run this year. I see them possibly making it to the semi's.
I see them going 9-1 this year, possibly running the table. I think Portsmouth will play them close, I think they may get upset along the way for their one loss if they are not cautious.
I do however seeing them beating Burg by multiple scores and roughing Burg up a little bit and causing Burg to be beaten by Oak Hill week 2.
But I will stand my ground that I-town is back and there will be alot to talk about in downtown Lawerence County this football season.

Just love all of these fans with weak programs who will not play us or who gets dominated by us throw up Logan like that helps your cause...LOL! Noone is running from Logan, a series with them in the near future will occur, both programs want it, the people want it, mark it down! Oh yeah, Ironton leads the Logan series and Logan has dominated us more recently, last years game was a battle and was not decided until late, last I checked we beat Wheelersburg pretty easily...Hmmmmm?

Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
we could argue about how easily ironton won last yr but it is very difficult to beat a team like ironton 3 yrs in a row which is what the burg was attempting to do last yr.BigCarlito72 wrote:Just love all of these fans with weak programs who will not play us or who gets dominated by us throw up Logan like that helps your cause...LOL! Kind of like Beating a program like Burg 8 times in a row...
2000 Ironton (A) 10 3
2001 Ironton (H) 42 0
2002 Ironton (A) 24 9
2003 Ironton (H) 22 10
2004 Ironton (A) 21 0
2005 Ironton (H) *footnote 7 6
2006 Ironton (A) 24 21
Which is what we were attempting in 2007....
Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
I think we'll handle Wheelersburg pretty easily, but I hope that's not the highlight of our season.
Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER FOOTBALL
it amuses me every year to see and hear some of the tiger fans come out boasting about how many times they have beat up on a smaller school. at least the burgites aren't ever too intimidated to play the "vaunted" tigers and i doubt there have been too many times lutz has suited up his boys and felt completely confident he was going to come out with a W when playing the smaller school down the river.
i think if it were me, i'd take my wins as they come and be a little more quiet and respectful about it because you never know when that little team down the river is going to say we've heard all the ridicule we need and you boys can just find you some other little school to whoop up on in week one.
it would be EXTREMELY difficult for ironton to find another school within a hundred miles of here that would give them the computer points that wheelersburg does when they beat them. most years wheelersburg gives ironton enough computer points to go a LOOONG way towards getting into the playoffs and/or getting a home game.
again, if it were me, i'd be inclined to give them a little more credit and respect than ridicule. ya never know when your gravy train is gonna run dry.

Excellent points, KVDW. As an Ironton fan, I too find all the boasting a bit tiresome and embarrassing. Our fanbase is rightly proud of its football tradition and program. However, a few could benefit from a humble pill every now and then. I look for a very close, hard fought game with the Burg this year. Those kind have far outnumbered the blowouts in this series.

Good point pembrook. Most Ironton fans are very cordial and know this has been an excellent series and rivalry between these two schools and then you get a blowhard like BigCarlito that gives the Tigers a black eye.

AGREE...i dont agree with the way this guy has been posting. Not representing Ironton very well at all. Honestly I've been on this forum for a very long time and haven't seen very many Ironton poster ever bash anyone. This guy is out of controll with this stuff.
