Week 1 - South Point @ Minford

Well I guess it is not too early to get the discussion going with the opener less than 2 weeks away.

Minford should be very fast and athletic at the skill positions and will have to keep progressing on the line. They looked solid against Portsmouth on both sides of the ball.

I am not very familiar with what South Point returns this year or what style of offense they will be running. But I was told from a Coal Grove fan that South Point looked small but quick, and executed very well at the OVC Previews this weekend.

Minford will win easily.South Point will be down until the rest of their really good middle school group gets up and gets a year or two under their belts but anything can happen.

I don't know what South Point has, but I do know that they played West Portsmouth very tuff last year. So I don't think we can look past them. I'm sure they would love to beat an SOC II team, and make their league look that much better.
I just hope we come out and play like we can. I think we will have a great year, as long as we stay healthy!!

Watching them Saturday night their style of Offense is Wing-T double wings with a split end most of the time, they run some of the same stuff Minford does but no Buck Sweep, they will run FB trap, Long Trap to the HBs, QB counter. Their overall team size looks small.

South Point is young and small this year. I saw a lot of freshmen getting playing time at the scrimmages. They are however very fast. Hope this series continues for a while. SP will be much better when the 9th graders are seniors. The freshman class, 8th and 7th grade are really good. That is if they all continue to play! I'm predicting a Minford win but hopefully the Pointers give them a game!
