He played high school in the early 50's for Chauncey-Dover (now part of Athens) high school. He's still in the high school record books in scoring and touchdowns on the ohsaa website. He played for Woody on the 1954 National Championship team.C-Bolt wrote:What about Hubert Bobo,he was before my time and don't know if he was multi-sport but I heard he played fullback for Woody Hayes one year they won the Rose Bowl.

The only reason I'd heard of him is because I'm distantly related to him,my Dads sister was married to this guy who was his first cousin,he was the talk of every reunion but I couldn't remember them say if he excelled in other sports.

You're right Bait, "Multi-Sport" but me and C-bolt don't know if Mr. Bobo played all sports or not back then. I know my mom's not even a sports fan but when she was in high school she knew about the legend named Hubert Bobo from Chauncey-Dover. I think everyone in a 7 or 8 county radius followed his exploits on the gridiron at least. If anyone out there knows if he played basketball, baseball etc. please let us know. You're Tiger Bait wrote:are we talking multi sport as the header says or 1 sport.

I agree with the ones already mentioned
Add to the list:
Todd Snyder and Dick Adams from Athens in the mid-1960s

how about kenny fritz- first team all american for ohio state, great wrestler, believe he still holds record for quickest pin at state tournament (six seconds), and being a 240 pound /linebacker/guard- he also ran the 100 on the track team. and of course was a pretty good discus guy.

I have a couple from Athens...
Chris Hewitt (FB/BB)
Grant Gregory (FB/BB)
Andrew Coble (Soccer/BB)
Corey Champlin (FB/BB)
All were tremendous athletes and these are just the recent ones I can think of as there have been some great athletes to come through Athens...

Was Ironton in the SEOAL IN 80-81? If so you have to consider Dennis Bacon for football and track best back ever IMHO from that great program
