How many opening games has Portsmouth won? It has to be alot. I mean, I can't remember them losing an opening game.

2009 win over South Point
2008 win over South Point
2007 win over Chesapeake
2006 win over Chesapeake
2005 win over Chesapeake
2003 win over Chesapeake
2002 win over Chesapeake
2001 win over Chesapeake
2000 win over Amanda Clearcreek
1999 win over Amanda Clearcreek
1998 win over Tolsia WV
1997 win over West
1996 lose to Chillicothe
With the exception of a few years for Chesapeake when they went to the regional championship, and of course Amanda Clearcreek in their state title years, most of these teams were not very strong opponents. Wilmington is the best team we have played for the opener since 2002.

Thanks Trojan_FB_Alum. I knew that they had a nice streak going. I do agree with you on Wilmington being the strongest oppenent the Trojans have faced in an opener since 2002. I just wish we could get some info on if the Hurricane are a running team, a passing team, or are they balanced ?

I wonder if their band plays "Hurricane" as made famous by the poet laureate himself, Bob Dylan?

The Hurricane graduated their leading rusher from last season. He had 1340 yard on 173 carries.
They also graduated their leading receiver. He had 37 catches for 538 yards.
Looks like they may have some guys to replace from last season. This info is from max preps.

So are they a team supporting Hurricanes or a team supporting Rubin "Hurricane" Carter?

when you have great players like that, that means your back ups could have been pretty darn good ,and waiting their turn.

True but there is no replacing experience, by mid season they may be just as good if not better, however everyone has to work through cycles.
They graduated 1240 yards receiving between 3 guys, and 1375 yards rushing between 3 guys. I don’t care who you are it is hard to replace 2615 yards of offence.
