I heard Oak Hill 13 - Adena 7. Not sure if that was a final.

Wow west Piketon scrimmage was a a good lesson and I think Piketon will be stronger. Their a young team. West will have no problem winning alot of games this year.

OH and Adena each ran 2 ten play series with their first teams. OH won 3 td's to 0. Then they played game situation and OH won 3 td's to 1. Overall OH's first team beat Adenas 1st team 6 td's to 1.

I hope Piketon gets to go up against west again next year. Their a young team and playing west was a good lesson to to make them better. West's line and back field was very strong. You can tell Piketon had a young team. This will make them alot stronger. Plus Piketon didn't show all because of other schools watching. Great job west. Hope to see ya next year.

Wow. Very impressive from the Oaks. That sounds a lot more like what I was expecting.

I would have liked seeing that scrimmage.

ironman02/Bucknut27......Thanks for the updates on the scrimmages tonight. I couldn't escape the office because of production process for Tuesday's Times-Journal fall sports preview.

Just taking a bacon sandwich lunch break and checking out SEOPs

It will make you better. I could see Piketon having a great offense. Defense needs a lot of work.
Good thing is west is very young too. I don't think a senior started on the offensive front and only 1 end on the d line. Quarterback is a Jr as are several other backs. West isn't going away anytime soon.

To let everyone know Maysville is a very good team. 1-9, 2 seasons ago, but 6-4 last year and 3 of those losses were playoff teams. Maysville was very physical and ran the ball very hard. Maysville was also listed in the JJ huddle High school football preview as a team to watch. The final score does not indicate that the Warriors were up 13-6 at the end of the 1st. The 2nd was played with a few of Warren’s best sitting out. Also the o-line did a very good job in the game. Warrenwarriorfootball.com has game highlights for both of Warrens tune up games.

This was the last chance for teams to check out what they want to do b4 it "counts". Now if you understand football you understand that this is just a tune-up. If you are a person that puts all your "eggs" in a scrimmage basket, let’s look at the SEOAL as a whole:
Marietta 7-6 loss
Gallipolis 28-0 win
Portsmouth 21-14 loss
Jackson 23-12 loss
Logan 28-7 loss (14-7 varsity still loss) rumor game ended early by Logan, not sure about that.?
Warren 26-13 loss
If you think scrimmages determine the season outlook, I guess Gallipolis will run away with the season crown. The scores and all info about scrimmages I took from the threads, if any information is wrong I am sorry I took the info straight from there.
I think all the teams will regroup and Friday night play all there best kids in the best spots and not hold anything back. Scrimmages are fun and a way to get a taste of what’s to come. Just a taste! Good luck to all the teams this season. Go Blue!

Also there is lots of new content on Warrenwarriorfootball.com. Check it out!

If anyone basis their season off of scrimmages alone they are mistaken. Scrimmages give your team a chance to finalize position, work on the basics of your offense and defensive schemes. As far as I know most don't even scout the team your scrimmaging. I do think it can be a solid building block for a team if they do well. It gives them confidence going into the season. The Trojans only ran base packages and a very vanilla offense and defense in their scrimmages. Why show your week 1 opponent anything that's deep in your game plan. Valley will have a fine season and played well, but a scrimmage against Valley,Minford, and Northwest don't mean a hole lot to the Trojans. I have always believed it means a lot more to those schools if they can beat the Trojans even in a scrimmage. The Trojans will be fine and I hope the teams they play base their game plan off of our performance in scrimmages. Because then on Friday nights reality hits them, it's not a scrimmage anymore.

Exactly!!! :12224 :12224

Here's the funny thing....when Portsmouth smacks around teams in scrimmages, whether it be Valley, Minford, or whoever....everyone is hearing all about it, and it's usually in the PDT. For example a few weeks back there was a 7 on 7 and all the thread talked about was how much more "athletic" Portsmouth was then everyone else...call it what you will but that's just how it goes. I dont put a ton of stock in scrimmages either... Here is the quote:

There was 3 teams last night (Valley, Piketon, and Portmouth). It was plain to see the Trojans were much more athletic then the other 2 teams. Our defense gave up only 1 pass more then 20yrd and no score in 40 plays ran against them. On offense the Trojans scored 5 times (Bendolph - 2, Simpson - 1, Royster -1, and Staker -1) and one more that was dropped. The offense looked very quick and athletic at all positions. Myers was deadly accurate last night completing about every pass. But, it's just a 7 on 7 and doesn't mean much at all. Here was the first group on each side of the ball. (this is from BigTime)

Good Luck to all the teams..
