I really want to see how much improvement there is from our first scrimmage. West is supposed to be a good team and they had already scrimmaged once. However, they were clearly better than us and I saw some of the same problems that plagued the Devils last year, especially defensively. I want to see how they do against Meigs to give some perspective before I get too excited or pessimistic either way about Athens and the rest of the season.

All but a few skill position players are returning. Most of the O and D line graduated.

Should be a good one to start the year off with. Athens has a lot of key players back. The biggest question will be the line.

Ill take Athens in a close one!

I think this years game should be very close. The BlueDevils will be much improved from this time last year and Athens has some question marks on the O and D lines.
I'm gonna take Athens 28-26...Can't wait to watch the replay!

Not much chatter about the Blue so far.... Missed last weeks scrimmage but from what I heard and read on the forum is that we are weak in coverage and need some improvement with our tackling.... Sound familiar???? Not something that can be corrected in a week.......... The Devils need to start the season on a high note because it get tougher as we go.......Especially after week 4.......LOL

Eventhough the score was similar to last year's scrimmage against West, I came away feeling much better about the team than I did last year. We perfromed much better up front than we did last year. I feel like we might be able to pound on some teams up front. Problems in space is exactly right. We were missing one of our top LBs from last year and I hear he's been back at practice this week. I'm hoping for better results tomorrow night at Meigs.

I heard the same thing. I think that 3 or 4 freshman quit during conditioning.

Gallipolis will not fall behind like last year--so this will allow them to play their game and the SEOAL will come out on top in this one.

While the Blue Devils have some of the same problems they had last year, they are way ahead of where they were last August.............I think they win a close one at Athens.....

From what I hear the numbers are low for both 8th and 9th grade while the 7th has around thirty, at least for now----

So does this mean the Freshmen are dressing Varsity? No way to field a team with only 14 players...

I'm sure GAHS will be much improved this year and with Athens still searching for an idenity this year I believe this will be a very close game this time around as compared to last season. I'll take the Bulldogs 27-20.

The Blue Devils looked dominant against Meigs last night. The lineplay on both sides of the ball allowed them to do whatever they wanted. It was either 28 or 35 to none for GAHS when the varsity was done. The only downside was the injury to Golden. I'm hoping it wasn't as serious as it first looked.

I hope the player from Meigs that got taken off on the squad is all right. I heard dislocated shoulder and broken collarbone.

I'm taking the Blue Devils by a couple scores.
