I'm seeing a lot of Gallia picks here ... what's up? No R.E.S.P.E.C.T for the pups or what?

Did we not make the trip to Memorial Stadium last season and put an old fashion but whoopin the Blue Devils last year? 21-0 I believe it was ... the DOGS have a ton of players back, including all of its skill players ... so what's up with A-town being the 'underdog' here?

I'm guessing Athens 28, Gallia 20

R. Basil R. Field in The Plains will be ready for the 2010 season...

I like Athens in the contest, by 2 scores, with the game being close and Athens adding insurance late in the game...

GALIA ACADEMY -- 14
ATHENS ------------ 28

Come out and support the Bulldogs!!!

Well it's finally here ladies and gents say it loud GAMEDAY. Kinda gives you that little tingle in your spine just thinking about it doesn't it. To all of you wonderful Gallia folks making the trek over the river and through the woods to R. Basil Rutter Field this evening have a safe trip and be extra cautious around town there is a ton of road construction. For those of you out of towners looking for someplace to eat we have the normal chain type fast food and Ruby Tuesday/Applebees on east state street but I reccommend Kisor BBQ next to Dunhams in the mall near the end of east state. Let's all hope for a clean, well played, injury free game tonight.

I expect the game to be close either way.

I re-watched last year's game and, as with many of the GA games last year, I thought it was closer than the score indicated.

The big difference in the game IMO was that Athens dominated up front, especially late in the game. My understanding is that Athens lost a bunch of their lineman and are returning mostly skilled position players. Having been around the GAHS team most of the summer, I believe the GAHS line is going to be a strong point on both sides of the ball. The kids are stronger, more motivated and have a much better understanding of the offense in year two of Coach Eddy's system.

I also have doubts about how good Athens is going to be when they get beat by a D6 school, even in a scrimmage. I know Trimble has a decent program and an excellent running back, but there's no way a D6 school should compete with a D2 school that expects to have a good year. I know it's a scrimmage and I know there were turnovers, but Athens should have pushed them around from a physical standpoint. Maybe Trimble will beat NY tonight and blow this reasoning out of the water.

GAHS was a vastly different team at the end of the year compared to the beginning when we played Athens. The kids didn't quit and got better each week. We played several quality opponents tough for portions of the game. We had good opportunities to win at both Portsmouth and Jackson later in the year. We just never put it together for four quarters. We had several opposing coaches tell us they were impressed with how hard our team played. That carried over to the off-season where kids really bought into Coach Eddy's program. They trained hard and it is obvious that the team is much stronger as a result of the strength and conditioning program.

These are my reasons for choosing GAHS to win tonight. We have very little to go on at this point in the season and I could be wrong on all my points. That's why we play the games. I can hardly focus on work. I'm ready to head home, pick up the family and head to Athens for the game tonight.

With athens passing game i wouldnt count them out. If they pull it all together they can win this game for sure but until they do im going with Gallia and as far as athens losing to trimble from what i seen of gallia last year they would have lost to trimble by 5 or 6 scores so i wouldnt go off that.

Goodluck Athens

:?: :?: :?: :?: What???? The Devils hung with Hillsboro, Portsmouth, Jackson and a perinneal powerhouse Bishop Hartley, beat Chilli and absolutely pasted Marietta!! I know Trimble has a decent program but to say they would EVER beat GA by 5 or 6 scores (even the down season they had last year) is pretty stupid. Take off the Trimble colored glasses and put the happy pipe down dude, you're making an @ss out of yourself....

That guys makes the Nelsonville vs. Trimble thread almost unreadable from an outsider's perspective.
